Beware, #Mets fans. Sounds like Manny Acta (a mere 146 games under .500 for his career) might have "lit up the room" in his interview.

I remember thinking this was inevitable back in the Omar years re: Acta eventually coming home. Sort of funny to see it happen now, but maybe further's my forever parallel that despite the optics being as different as possible, the Omar and Sandy eras are super similar by the time all is said and done.

Ahhhhh makes me long for the days of Art Howe and Jeff Torborg who I believe both "lit up the room," as well.

Disconnect between players and manager. Was more about clubhouse dynamic than Acta as in-game tactician. Classic "lost the room" situation.

Well, I would just add that I never thought much of Eno. Acta may end up a fine choice, but I'm not taking that at the word of Sarris.

In all seriousness, I'm not a fan of the Acta hire but he saves me from disowning the Mets due to a Long hire.

I've been told for YEARS the Mets loved Manny Acta.

I guess Acta is better than Long. They refer to his Nats tenure above as being an issue of talent. I wouldn't exactly say the Mets have an abundance of riches either.

Which means its a Wilpon decision since Acta was long gone by the time Sandy got here.

Kinda funny to be making fun of the Art Howe hire and at the same time be acting like managerial record is some great measure

I'm going to guess they "decided to widen the search" and bring in 2 or 3 more candidates, including Hale and maybe SAJ, and maybe some other name we haven;t heard like David Bell or Tim Bogar or Pat Murphy.

Per Puma:

Another source added it’s possible general manager Sandy Alderson still has candidates in mind other than the five who have interviewed with the club. But the Mets are expected to begin their second round of interviews next week.

Bell leaving Cards to become Giants Farm Director per Olney.
