Beware, #Mets fans. Sounds like Manny Acta (a mere 146 games under .500 for his career) might have "lit up the room" in his interview.

I remember thinking this was inevitable back in the Omar years re: Acta eventually coming home. Sort of funny to see it happen now, but maybe further's my forever parallel that despite the optics being as different as possible, the Omar and Sandy eras are super similar by the time all is said and done.

Meaning the next GM will only benefit from guys his predecessor drafted? :P

Well, any manager would be criticized and somehow linked to the Coupons so bring on more anger and pitchforks!

Just because Long was on staff with Collins does not mean it’s a continuation. That’s a false narrative. This ain’t football.

Bosio (Cubs) and Righetti (Giants) were ousted from their organizations as pitching coaches. Both could be of interest to the Mets in that role, but I imagine Righetti might get consideration as a manger as well.

Eiland has interviewed to replace Righetti. Righetti is staying with the Giants as special assistant to the GM

Kevin Long out?

Well, I'm confused.

Acta and McEwing also apparently out per Sherman.

So it’s Callaway. Or a mystery candidate.

I see a different interpretation.

Have had it confirmed #Mets are offering their manager job to Mickey Callaway. Deal being finalized today

Well people can put down the pitchforks now, it's not Long or Geren.

This is kind of great. I wonder what DeRosa did in his interview if he "didn't have a plan" and Sandy told him he couldn't just win on "charisma and class".

Quote:
"Sandy was amazing," DeRosa said during an appearance on WFAN. "I spoke to him at length when he called and told me that Mickey Callaway was going to get the job. And I was honest with him, I said, 'Hey, anything I could've done differently?" and we went into it. He said as such, 'You're not going to win these jobs on just charisma and class.'"

DeRosa, whose candidacy was not known until after the Mets announced the hiring of Callaway, said his biggest regret was not giving a detailed plan during his interview regarding how he would have managed the Mets.

And thus I would consider the interview of DeRosa too be a pretty bizarre choice. And kind of disappointing that the org couldn't come up with a few better choices than him TBH.
