Lineups aren't announced, but I'm going to guess that Phil (not Nick) Evans gets the start.

Rafael Montero for the mets, who's been OK lately. One really nice game. Last 6 games, 5 starts he's 3-1, 3.45 ERA, 31.1 innings, 28 hits, 17 walks, 27 Ks, so the numbers aren't great, but he's showing some signs of being an OK #5/#6 starter.

Homer Bailey for the Reds. Bailey - fun fact, was picked 4 spots after Phil Humber and he's had a better career than Humber, a little.

The Evergreen Terrace native's stats are awful this year but he looks like a hit or miss pitcher. His 14 starts this year he's given up 59 runs. 45 of them in 6 starts. Just 12 runs in his other 8 starts.

The Reds are 1.5 games ahead of us in the tank. Still, I've enjoyed the wins lately and wouldn't mind a win.

Go mets!!! Good luck Nick. Prove me wrong about you!!

I'll never post on NYFS again if NICK Evans gets a start for the Mets today. That's how sure I am he won't be.

Oh dear. And in the thread title too. Let me try to fix that.

Oh, and, who remembers Nick Evans batting cleanup on the last . . . . yeah, I don't remember that either.

OK, to distract us from my booboo

I didn't realize, Homer Baily was a solid pitcher derailed by Tommy John. Reds signed him to a 6 year 105 million dollar contract (ouch) following the 2013 season when he went 11-12, 3.49 ERA, 3.31 FIP, 1.124 WHIP, 3.2 WAR. He'd been good 2011, 2012, 2013, so I can't fault the Reds, but ouch.

Since signing his contract he was OK in 2014, got hurt, and just awful 2015-2017. He's due 44 million over the next 2 years and a 5 million buyout for 2020.

He's also thrown 2 ho hitters.

Nobody named Evans in the lineup.

Did Evans bat cleanup on the last game of the 2008 season?

Upon checking, he batted 5th in that game (I remember some discussion of him hitting cleanup in a big game but maybe I was wrong).

In the mets defense, Evans wasn't a bad bat vs lefty pitchers, so it's not all that bonkers.

LOL. If someone wants to make a new thread . . . I won't mind. I've ruined this one.
