That's why I don't mind him getting an opportunity. A few of my trusted, good judgment friends have met him and said he is legit...same behind the scenes as in front.

I think he's just a really genuine, good human being. Nothing wrong with that.

I agree. Lots of jokes made at his expense, but he seems genuine. Nothing phony about him.

From afar, for the past 8 years or whatever, I've thought he was an attention seeking fraud. But I stand corrected actually following him since signing with the Mets. Genuine good guy.

Hardly surprising. It's nice to see a genuinely good guy at work in this climate nowadays.

This may sound insulting but I don't mean it that way: for a 30 year old with limited baseball skills to get an opportunity, he would pretty much have to be a great guy.

Was Michael Jordan a great guy? (just for comparisons sake), Jordan was even older than Tebow, but I think, Jordan played very well for the level he started at. He probably could have been a good baseball player if he'd started at 20 not at 32.

But, his foyer into baseball, I don't remember the criticism of "he doesn't belong" and "He's blocking a kid's opportunity". Maybe it was there, but I don't remember.

I was always fine with Tebow getting a look and I felt the "he's blocking somebody" was a stupid argument cause I hardly think a player gets ruined by playing a level lower for a season or playing a different spot in the OF. The idea that one player can block someone with 7 levels in the minors Each team with 5 or maybe 6 OFs with the DL system, one guy can block someone? - please. Maybe it matters if the system is super-crowded, but the mets minor league OF is barren, not crowded. I don't think blocking Gene Cone is an issue. (no offense to Gene Cone).

I've always loved a good underdog story. Go Mets (2018). I know an underdog when I see one.

An argument can be made for Michael Jordan as the greatest athlete of all time, which kind of puts him in a unique position for being able to do whatever he wants. Given that he had the power to create billions for Jerry Reinsdorf and the Bulls, if Jordan had asked Reinsdorf to be his personal butler for a year, Reinsdorf would have given it serious consideration. He sure wouldn't have said, "but you're blocking some prospect in AA!"

Tebow isn't blocking anybody bc it's the Mets system and there aren't any OFers worth clearing a path for.
