lost in this mess is Rosario's 3 hit game and Smith going deep for his 6th HR.

Nice. The pen is a mess, but it's many of these guys first looks at the majors. They might get better.

and the Tank. Don't forget the Tank.

Well I expect these kids to take some lumps. But Harvey never gave them a chance and then defensive breakdowns and Matt Reynolds playing 1B...

Yeah I still see Dom channeling AGone at the plate. It's an almost identical swing. I could see that working out in time. Reynolds and Taijeron otoh...

Taijeron did go 2 for 3 with a walk tonight (not arguing on his behalf long-term considering .188 seems about right for him).

Cecchini swung at a pitch that almost hit him in the face, though.

I've been pretty impressed with Plawecki. Three walks tonight and one was a 10 pitch PA where he really had to fight for it. If we're to believe the FO that our 2018 catcher is on the roster right now I'd probably lean towards Plawecki over d'Arnaud.

One legit hot take -- not a fan of Nido's swing. Way too much going on with that hitch.

Yeah it's time to be bullish on Plaw. The guy deserves some credit for trying to remake himself into a viable MLer. The early returns look promising.

Didn't follow this one once Robles came in and allowed all 3 runners to score. Was really hoping to see Terry put Plawecki on the mound again and that the relievers didn't actually give up all those runs. Looks like Rhame got pounded. Seems like this was a tough one to watch.

Gee whiz. Just watched the "highlights" of this one.

Asdrubal had a tailor made DP ball go right through his legs with the bases loaded.

And we saw why Taijeron has been in Vegas for 3 years. Got himself picked off 2nd to end an inning, then he played Almora's hit into a 3-run triple.

Aoki's arm is going to be a problem too.

I'm starting to hope Aoki isn't coming back.

and, I've always loved a good underdog story. Go Mets (2018).

This is what I expected really, from the rest of the year. The kids will have good days and bad days, the vets, depending on their mentality will either be mailing it in or sloppy.

The highlights for the kids are what ai focus on, especially against good teams.

Quote:
Matt Harvey - S - Mets
Mets sources tell Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News that it's "highly unlikely" the team will non-tender Matt Harvey this winter.
Harvey has posted a wretched 5.82 ERA in 77 1/3 innings this season while continuing to battle right shoulder problems, but it sounds like the Mets are hopeful the 28-year-old can rebound with a full winter of rest and rehab. Harvey is earning a $5.13 million salary in 2017, his second year of arbitration. He is due a raise in 2018 despite the poor results.

Only in MLB can someone be one of the worst performers and be nearly assured of getting a $500K raise or more. Unreal.

Even by Met standards that's chump change.

And while I don't picture a bright future for Matt Harvey I can only imagine it getting better than this. There's really no upside to selling so low, especially when you know they would only clear the roster spot for the next Adam Wilk/Tommy Milone.

I honestly don't follow this sort of logic. Harvey and ACab (and Reyes) together add up to a real player they could sign or acquire. Bringing these expensive albatrosses back and we are sure to get the song and dance about budgets...
