I honestly don't follow this sort of logic. Harvey and ACab (and Reyes) together add up to a real player they could sign or acquire. Bringing these expensive albatrosses back and we are sure to get the song and dance about budgets...

Is that directed at me, or is that directed at the Mets?

Or both.

Harvey's salary would be 1/6th guaranteed before OD. Makes absolutely ZERO sense non-tendering him vs. seeing how he looks in 5 months. That's what? About 1 million?

Didn't follow this one once Robles came in and allowed all 3 runners to score. Was really hoping to see Terry put Plawecki on the mound again and that the relievers didn't actually give up all those runs. Looks like Rhame got pounded. Seems like this was a tough one to watch.

Rhame was tossing low-to-mid 90's bp pitches down the middle of the plate last night.

Can't do that.

"It's kind of hard to take any positives out of the last two years," Harvey said after the game. "It's extremely frustrating. It's hard going out there and not doing what I can to help this team win. All in all, it's just extremely frustrating. That's really all you can say about tonight."

I like the honesty.

This is a fool's errand. They will end up investing time on him that isn't warranted. Then they will rationalize that he "just needs more time" and then they will say "we can always trade him" after deciding to take him north. This is just going to end up badly. Yes, they don't have a big multi-year commitment invested in him and that was wise, but that shouldn't be used to rationalize throwing good money away now.

He's not worth gambling 1 million on? Less than what Tommy Milone got this year...

You hear this all the time that it will only cost them 1/6th etc... but they will get themselves in limbo between wanting to give him more time facing batters and not wanting to wait too long to let him go so that he will have time to latch on elsewhere, etc. It never works. They will end up committing to him for the wrong reasons (nostalgia) and it will end up badly. Cut the cord. If he ends up having success elsewhere, so be it.

And all that is not to mention that this will be money already allocated and thus not available to use on a performing asset that could fill a role until it's too late. In the unlikely scenario they decide to pull the plug in ST, it will be too late to re-deploy those funds. This is just bad process all the way around.

As bad as the injury ravaged Mets pitching (and defense) has been this year, it's worth remembering that it's actually worse than it appears, because Citi Field is still a strong pitchers park.

The team's road ERA is now 5.52, which I think would be the worst in franchise history (the team ERA was 5.04 back in 1962 when they won 40 games, but I'm not sure of the home/road split there).

Tonite's lineup is out. At least no more Reynolds or Taijeron...
