Wait until the Mets surpass the Indians - by getting a player injured in 22 straight games.

As an aside, part of the reason I'm watching this is I can't get the Mets announcers tonight (in Chicago). From Cleveland guys (granted, I've only watched one inning), you'd never know there was a streak on the line. And Gary would have called the key hit in the bottom of the ninth infinitely better.

The feel good Sewald story doesn't feel so good anymore.

I know Reyes made the error, but Sewald has been purge garbage lately also and now I am not so sure he deserves penciled in the 2018 pen.

This team is a real embarrassment right now.

He's been garbage lately but he's still probably having the best season of our non-Blevins relievers. I think he's still pretty much a lock for the 2018 pen, although I definitely don't feel comfortable pushing him for a 7th inning role anymore.

These last two games have been fun.

That game ending play was a doozy. At least they can be counted on to provide something entertaining and new almost every night.

Theo Epstein arrived in Chicago 1 year before Alderson got to NY. These two teams couldn't be farther apart right now.

So that was it... most runs ever allowed in a 3 game series in team history. Record breaking series right there, folks.

They made every Met pitcher look like garbage. Hard to judge anything by this series.

Chicago did a proper tank. They weren't afraid to be awful and get some top picks. I advocated hard for a tank early in the Sandy era. They never did it. They felt it meant something to fight their way to 76 wins and draft 12 instead of 2 or 3.

The cubs also spent big on the international market, if memory serves.

Epstein did other things that seemed to work, such as, (per 60 minutes interview), he focused no drafting hitters not pitchers with his top pick, cause pitchers break down too easily.

It's not Sandy's fault. Jeff/Fred wouldn't let him tank.

Wow. Considering how bad the pitching was on the 62 mets, that's pretty impressive. (I'm guessing the old record belonged to the 62 team? - anyone know?)

For comparison, the 62 mets had a team ERA+ of 82
The 2017 mets have a team ERA+ of 86. (perhaps it drops to 85 after today's game gets added to BR).
