Interesting lineup. Aoki finally kicked off the island for a day and Cheech claws his way back in with the Rosario hip injury. Nimmo finally gets to face a LHer. I wonder if the bloom is starting to fade with Aoki.

Reyes SS
Nimmo LF
ACab 3B
Plaw C
Smith 1B
Lagares CF
Taijeron RF
Cheech 2B
Monty P

Kevin Plawecki. Hitting fourth. Never thought I'd see the day. I hope my term "Plaweckian" can turn from sarcasm to a compliment. Kid is putting up some good numbers since his promotion.

This should be a good game to watch as far as the 2018 Mets are concerned. All the important youth in the lineup(minus Rosario), but most importantly Montero. I really hope he is able to end strong and lock up a spot or at least an opportunity for next year's rotation. With the amount of uncertainty surrounding spots 3-5, I'd say he's at least earned that.

Ehhh, I think he's a candidate to be traded, frankly. A sell high (sorta) if you squint a little. He's out of options next year and that makes things a little tricky for holding on to him bc if everyone makes it back healthy and they add a starter, he prob has a hard time cracking the top 5.

Montero's not out of options next year. He never spent 20 consecutive days in the minors this year, so no option was used. Combination of DL and Major league time.

With that in mind, I think he's likely to stay a met a little longer.

It's a total of 20 days. It doesn't need to be consecutive. He spent more than 20 days in Vegas this season.

The good news is that it can't possibly get worse than this lineup

Montero is exposing Freeman.

You may be right on 20 days total. Stuff like that is notoriously hard to look up.

Anyhoo,

back to the mets. Nice tank today. Cincy & Oakland won. We're now lined up for the #5 pick, 1/2 game below Cincy, 2 games separate us and Oakland and just 2 games away from Detroit for pick #4.

#5 wouldn't be bad.

Plaw is starting to look a lot more like a real MLer and possibly a good one. Could be a very big deal.

Dom looking better, worked out a tough walk. Against lefties he doesn't look completely lost...good sign.

Seems he is further off the plate than usual though...adjustment maybe?
