There isn't any.

In the old days you could pump it into player development, but with MLB squeezing pennies that isn't an option anymore.

For all the chatter, there continues to be only one correct answer here.

player development, as in?

Not being sarcastic here. I've seen this mentioned before. How does MLB keep teams from developing their players? And just where would this money be spent?

They don't draft particularly well and sit out any major international FA. The Mets have no "upper hand" vs. other good teams. They briefly did (the SP when healthy) they no longer do.

Draft is capped.

International signings are capped.

While draft pools ARE capped could you ever really see the Mets exceeding their pool? The Cubs routinely do so.

Why?? Because it helps to level the field. If teams could spend whatever they want with no ramifications the disadvantage to the Mets would be much bigger.

So it's a matter of you wanting to spend more money to sign lottery picks? The top guys are being found. It would mean signing more guys going nowhere.

Not sure what that accomplishes

If you can spend $100M on Mike Moustakas, or sign 100 of the better International players or high school kids, which do you think is going to work out better for he overall health of your Organization?

More eggs, more baskets.

Are you getting 100 of the better intl or HS players? The other teams are trying too.

What you'll be doing is throwing money at a lot of kids who are never making it past A ball.

The 100 better Intl and HS players get signed now. And the next hundred and the next hundred and probably a few hundred more.

So the extra money is thrown at kids nowhere near that level.
