Takes an injury or scratch to get Cheech back in the lineup. AmRo is scratched with a bug. Rosario appears pretty gassed anyway. I don't mind that he sits this series and we see more of Cheech/Evans TBH.

I guess this is a pretty big start for Matt Harvey. I know conventional wisdom is that Harvey is a lock to be tendered. I'm not so sure. I would think that a few more clunkers won't do himself any good. Luckily for him, Yelich and Realmuto are both out of the lineup tonite.

Aoki RF
Reyes SS
ACab 3B
Smith 1B
TDA C
Nimmo LF
Lagares CF
Cheech 2B

So, what's the over/under for how many homers Stanton hits against Harvey?

1.5? 2?

(and, I'm rooting for Harvey but that doesn't mean I can't make fun of him).

What about 2015 showed up and K Stanton with a 96mph fastball?

I remember one of our scrub pitchers a couple years ago (might have been Montero or Verrett, I don't recall), struck out Stanton by a pitch a foot outside. Stanton really struck himself out, our pitcher just happened to be on the mound. He's gotten better, but he used to have Rosarian plate discipline.

Should that be a thing? Rosarian plate discipline? Not as good as Plaweckian contact . . . but maybe.

I like Rosarian discipline. You're right, Stanton used to swing at some pitches that weren't even in the same area code.

I haven't seen a player with worse discipline than Rosario since Frenchy - but somehow he used to manage to put some really bad pitches into play. Rosario has no recognition at all at this point. I can clearly see why they kept him down a couple more months than most of the fans thought he should have been here.

Harvey is shot. Seriously. I would be counting on deGrom and Syndergaard next year and the rest of the rotation is up for grabs. There is nobody in the organization I have confidence in to be #3 & #4 in the rotation. Maybe the planets align and one of Wheeler/Matz/Harvey is actually healthy and effective enough to be #5. Still leaves 2 gaping holes.

Please don't tell me that Harvey has to be tendered. That was a more brutal whooping than his last start.

Wow is right. I'm starting to think they need to put every penny into the pitching staff this winter.

deGrom, Syndergaard, Blevins, Ramos, Familia (maybe?) and Sewald are truly the only guys I have faith in next year. And "faith" in Famlia and Sewald is a stretch.

Nearly all the pitchers on this team blow.

Callahan should be fine. Rhame otoh... does he even throw a second pitch? It's just fastball after fastball like BP. He's a little scary.

From Happy Harvey Day to Hideous Harvey Day in two years' time.

Honestly at this point they should experiment with him in the bullpen NOW, otherwise might as well non-tender him.
