Flexen may yet lose eligibility. 8.1 innings away 10 games left. I'd bet against it but he's only 1 "eat up innings" appearance away from it being very close.

I haven't looked at the numbers but Flexen has looked pretty good as a RP so far.

He answered my ??
DW (NYC): Any thoughts on Oswalt? Guillorme?
Josh Norris: Oswalt had an excellent season and got a little love. Managers who saw him in the Florida State League also noted that he improved his secondaries tremendously, particularly his changeup and his feel to use the pitch. Guillorme got some love because of his extremely fast hands and defensive abilities and his reputation as a pesky hitter. I personally think he can get himself to the big leagues on the strenght of his defense.

Looking at the pitchers who did make the list, it's not surprising that Oswalt didn't make it. Those guys are all better prospects than Oswalt. Not sure why that tells us anything about Oswalt's talent level that we didn't already know; most of us know he's not deGrom but he's still a guy who could project as a back-end starter who is close to the majors.

It certainly tells us the perception is he's not a "difference maker" as "pitcher of the year" would potentially indicate would it not? If you aren't a top 20 prospect in any given league you aren't likely viewed as anything more than an extra arm/5th starter upside.

Lets put it this way, on 7/24 BA didn't feel Oswalt was even top 10 in this terrible system. Now lop off Rosario/Smith, and Gonzalez was traded and maybe he was "next", I have no clue but unless you think his profile changed over the final 8 weeks the "feeling" on him isn't one that matches his year.

I think even those who like Oswalt see him as a 4th/5th starter so I'm not sure who you're arguing against.
But, still, Beau Burrows was 19th on this list and was the last pitcher included... He was 20 this season in AA, was a first-round pick in 2015, sits low/mid 90s and reaches high-90s with promising secondaries...
I think it's fair to say that Oswalt is a worse prospect than the guys on this list but is still Top 15 in our weak system.

He answered another one of my questions
Josh Norris: Molina's stuff indeed was down, but that's to be expected in his first full year coming off of Tommy John. This year, for example, he was 90-92 with his fastball as opposed to the mid-90s he had been pre-surgery. He's also lost some of the sink on his fastball. Next year will be big for him.
