You can ONLY name players who have played at least one game in AA or AAA. Dom is ineligible as he 99% is the starting 1b next season. I ask this because it's pretty crazy how thin they are at AA/AAA headed into next year.

4. Flexen
5. Oswalt
6. Bashlor
7. Molina
8. McNeil
9. Conlon

that top 50 list is going to be a doozy this winter. Try to guess 50 guys that might be the next Matt Reynolds or Chasen Bradford.

The lack of coverage on the lower levels makes it especially tricky. I think the coverage was better a few years ago.

I also hate adding recently signed 16 year olds who haven't even played, but 2 or 3 of them might make this year's 50.

. . not sure I'll do a list but Metro's top 10 looks not too far off. I'd probably have Oswalt a little lower and I might slip Evans in there, but . . . not 100% sure.

This is probably close to what my list would be though Cecchini I would disqualify due to the time, not at bats at MLB level. I like Smith a bit more than Callaghan.

I think although this years top 50 will be underwhelming, next years will be surprisingly better.

I don't think Flexen should count he's pretty close to losing rookie status. 10 innings or so.

1. Alonso - Probably the only guy who could be an impact player if things go right, and even then it will be tough if he's a poor fielding 1B/DH.
2. Bashlor - I really like him. I think he's a potential setup man/closer.
3. Guillorme - OBP skills seem legit and he is incredibly sure-handed defensively. He's probably a backup MIF at the very least, maybe gets a few years starting at his peak (probably not for us).
4. Thompson - I think he's figuring stuff out offensively and apparently his defense is much better than expected.
5. Nido - I have very little faith in his bat, but seems adept at throwing runners out and it doesn't take a lot of offense to be starting catcher. Still could pan out.
6. Molina - Hope his stuff bounces back after resting this offseason. Move to pen might help?
7. Oswalt - Had a great year, but I ultimately think he's a AAA depth guy, which is still nice to have around when the injuries inevitably happen.
8. Flexen - see: Oswalt, Corey. I expected the stuff to be a little better, regardless of how the results are. Seems very average across the board. AAA depth.
9. Rhame
10. Callahan

Post subject:  Re: Who are your top 10 AA/AAA prospects heading into 2018?

1) Alonso - as noted, his glove has questions so he's not a stud prospect, but strong second half and hit well in Bing as well as St. Lucie.
2) Guillorme. Yes he's a weak hitter but he works the count. 72 walks to 55 Ks is good in any league. I think he'll hit enough to have a real career. I considered him for #1.
3) Nido - maybe I have him too high but I think he can figure out how to not be awful at the plate and be a solid backup catcher, occasional starter. Not a bad thing.
4) Flexen - don't be down on him cause he was rushed to the majors this year. Back end starters are useful. He could still turn into a #4/#5 Dillon Gee type. I'll take it.
5) Mazeika - don't sleep on the catcher with the bat.
6) David Thompson - who probably shouldn't be this high, but I like him.
7) Drew Smith - maybe I like him more than I should. Time will tell.
8) Uceta
9) Bashlor
10) Molina - who I don't like as much as I used to but he's still in the top 10
HM) Kaz - sleeper.

Did I miss anyone? (don't say Oswalt). Maybe I'm overlooking Conlon.

For the bullpen guys - I'm kinda guessing. I have no idea how to compare Uceta to Callahan - so I picked one.

Oswalt. You're missing Oswalt.

Like, again, he's not an elite prospect but there are some way fringe-ier names on all of these lists.
