I don't think that's fair. Many of the games went down to the bullpen.
Game 1 was won by 1 run over 14 innings.
Games 2/3 were one sided but one for each team.
Game 4 our pen blew a 3-2 lead, lost 5-3.
and game 5 went into extra innings too.
3 of those loses, one hit or one pitch could have made the difference. It was a closer series than the 4-1 final made it look. I know what you mean, it felt like they were never in it, but I think they certainly showed up. You don't lose two games in extra innings when you don't show up.
The Cubs didn't show up. We Murderlated them.
And that Dodgers series - wow. My god that was intense and the Umps call, my god. Talk about ripping your heart out with incompetence. I still get mad thinking about it and thank god the good guys won.
2015 was magic and the mets showed up in the WS, but unfortunately, the other team showed up ready to play too and they were better when it counted.
It feels like 2015 was 100 years ago, but I don't think it's right to say that the mets didn't show up cause I think they did. Familia (and I love the guy), blew a couple games. Harvey pitched one batter too many. Tough breaks happened.
