Adding Uceta and Bautista but not Bashlor would be absolutely ridiculous

Bashlor 49.2 innings 40 hits 25 walks 84 k's. Last 10 appearances in AA 0 runs allowed, 17 k's. He's allowed 4 total homers in his professional career

Bashlor not being protected = Bashlor DEFINETLY being taken in Rule V and potentially becoming another team's closer next year. He should be considered a prime candidate to be OUR closer by 2019....

Uceta, Bashlor, Bautista are much more valuable than Reynolds, Pill, Taijeron, Guillorme, Smoker, Goeddel, even Callaghan, among others.

I hope Bashlor is as good as some of you are saying he is. We could use a guy like that in 2018. Other pitchers have put up lights-out stats in A+/AA and not amounted to anything.

Ten pitches of New and Improved Tyler Bashlor was enough to convince me he's a MLB impact reliever

It's really about protecting guys who have upside resist those who are serviceable but have not shown an ability to impact.

Just because, seems to be the reasoning.

I would take Guillorme over any of those names. Might take Callahan over Uceta or Buatista as well. Wouldn't shock me if Oswalt is unprotected in favor of those arms, though. Oswalt is like Chris Flexen with even a bit less velocity.

Jarrett Seidler doesn't know jack. That said, Bashlor is a lock to get protected.

I got Bautista, Bashlor and Oswalt as the 3 locks with Uceta, Boyd and Guillorme all on the bubble depending on how many spots they open up.

That sounds like a ding of Chris Flexen. The guy had less than 50 IP above A+. Unrealistic to have expected ML results right away. Back end profile hasn't changed at all. Yeah Oswalt similar pitchability profile
