I plan to root against both teams equally.

as a sidebar, the "how fed up with you on mets management" thread. What I'm really fed up with is the Yankees and the Dodgers, big money teams have a new way of milking the system - stocking their minor leagues. Baseball's an unfair game. Money wins.

I hate the Dodgers and I hate the Yankees. They're the real Villains of baseball. Teams like the Padres or Pirates have to work hard and/or get lucky for 10-20 years to get 1 chance that the Yankees and Dodgers buy every year. Grossly unbalanced.

Compared to those 2 teams, nothing the Wilpons do bothers me at all.

Wait a minute...you’re faulting the Yankees for using big money that the Mets have and refuse to part with of “milking the system?” I have to laugh. The Wilpons have plenty of money to spend and play in the big leagues. They choose not to. But tell me, was it money that caused the Mets to draft Dom Smith and the Yankees draft Aaron Judge in the same year? The Yankees pulled off a brilliant trade in acquiring Chapman from the Reds for peanuts and then traded him for one of the top prospects in the game. Yankees signed Andrew Miller to a contract the Mets certainly could have afforded and then proceeded to trade him for a top prospect in Clint Frazier. Yankees took on salary and traded for a young excellent set up man, 7th inning at worst Kahnle, took back Robertson a very good set up man/closer and picked up a few months of salary in Todd Frazier. I’m so sick and tired of people blaming the Yankees for actually acting like a big market team. The Mets play by the same exact rules and decide NOT to. Let’s face facts. The Yankees have better owners and a better front office than the Mets do. It’s pretty simple

Strategically inclined analytics guru AJ Hinch bringing in his closer up 6 with game 7 looming tomorrow.

As I say...

They were dying to get Giles a soft landing to get him confidence and he nearly botched that.

They're better off only having him pitch one inning at most tomorrow anyway given how bad he's been in the playoffs.

I never said they haven't been smart. The Yankees have obviously played it smart the last few years. They also have a big money advantage over most teams. Baseball needs to do more to re-level the system. I like the NBA system. Any team can build a dynasty and have a great 3-4 year run. In MLB that's much harder. Often by the time the small market team makes it to the series, they're on the verge of losing one or two key players.

Yes, the Yankees have done smart moves. They also spent like 40 million on international prospects a couple years back. That's milking the system. I don't fault them for spending money, I fault the system but I still hate the Yankees.

and, no, I don't like the Wilpons, but I hate the Yankees. That's just where I come down on this.

yankees laying an egg tonight

i guess we may avoid the nightmare scenario of a Yankee-Dodger WS after a disgraceful Mets season.

Cancel the ticker tape parade folks

To any Yankee fans here, I apologize for my insensitivity, but

Great game. I really enjoyed these last two games. Some great plays and the good guys won. Go Houston!

Small point to add to this.

The Yankees got Judge because they had money to spend a roster stacked with free agents and QOs to offer. They got 2 compensation picks in 2013 for two players they signed in earlier years.

They gave Soriano 2 years 21, and QO'd him. Swisher was traded for, then resigned and then given the QO. Smart trade, but having money to offer him the QO didn't hurt.

They also got QO for Granderson and likely a few others players. The QO system is changed now, but it was set up where teams with money could take advantage and collect late first round picks a couple years after signing free agents. The Yankees did that.

Want proof? 13 QOs offered, 3 by the Yanks, 3 by the Redsox. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/63678306

The Yanks got Judge cause they had 3 first round picks. He was their 2nd choice. Their other 2 first rounders don't stand out, so I'd say it had to do with the number of picks they had over their brilliance.

The Chapman trade was smart, but they were willing to take on some bad press and adding his contract was like nothing to them which didn't hurt.

Gary Sanchez does not seem like the answer at C - very good hitter but his misplays in the field had a large effect on this series.
