Still angers me that the Bruce deal was strictly a salary dump and nothing else. No matter what Sandy may have claimed at the time.

Ryder Ryan is interesting. I wouldn't call it just a salary dump.

I would and I did. It was a salary dump no question about it. I just wish it would have leaked already who the two Yankee prospects were.

Ryder Ryan is interesting in the way that any random non prospect who can throw hard in a bullpen can be interesting. You can say Matt Blackham is interesting too.

Matt Blackham didn't get us Yoenis Cespedes in 2015 though.

Except no one was giving anything for anyone this year.

Bruce finishing the year at Citifield accomplished nothing. They could not find a taker last off-season. They had a difficult time moving him this deadline.

2015 is not 2017 and the market changed...so perhaps that, in relative terms makes Ryan interesting.

The draft pick they would have gotten if Bruce walked probably would have trumped Ryder Ryan. The Wilpons traded him for a non prospect.

I think that's an exaggeration. He certainly has some prospect value. He's a IFer convert who can dial it up to 96, so how that develops and plays out remains to be seen.

Considering the Mets did most of the selling, this is a very self-fulfilling prophecy. And every report out there indicates someone was willing to give something for Bruce, but we took the cash, aka, salary dump.

The whole theory that suddenly in 2017 the entire market for in season trading shifted entirely plays nicely to the theory that we can never make a bad move, but requires a lot of suspension of disbelief.

But by way of testing this theory, I sincerely hope Sandy is shopping Ryder Ryan around the winter meetings. Hell, I'd even package him with Stephen Nogosek. Should help us to fill one or two of the many holes on the roster.

Ha. Yes, we should be able to turn those crappy relievers into starting ML RF, 1B, 2B, set-up man, etc.

Going to be a great winter!

You can feel free to think it's an exaggeration but its really not. Throwing 96 in the minors does absolutely nothing for me, the way baseball is today those guys are a dime a dozen.

That's if you assume Bruce would turn down the QO (which I suppose he would) and the Mets would even 'risk' giving him one after being burned on Neil Walker this year.
