Good news, for the most part. Only downside is the Syracuse airport does not have a lot of destinations outside of the northeast. When the Mets are on the road it could be a bit of a hassle to get players to the big club, whereas LAS has direct flights to pretty much every MLB city.

Adam Wilk disagrees.

Mets buying triple a team in Syracuse is a little thing that is a big deal. They won't play shorthanded as often if they manage it right

I'm not holding my breath this will be the panacea some think it could be. The FO still has to manage the roster properly.

Where it definitely helps is that Cuse and the IL are more stable playing environments... but of course the early season cold weather can wreak some havoc of its own.

I'm just looking forward to being able to look at a Triple-A line and feel like there's something I can glean from it. I want to be able to get excited if a guy hits .330/.386/.519 and feel justifiably scared if a pitcher is putting up an ERA over 5.00.

That's what wRC+ and FIP are for, though, right?

If they get a good deal they'll probably still make the player fly through Vegas.

It's their long term home.

Ha well I guess we can say that at least this time that the Wilpon's spent their money wisely. :)

Being only 40 minutes from Syracuse this is awesome. Cannot wait until 2019.

Mets announce deal with Syracuse to relocate Triple-A team. Move is expected for 2019, but was told there is an "outside chance" for '18.

The Nationals are in Syracuse for '18, but if they were to relocate, the Mets could potentially move in a year early.

There's nothing there about the park being indoor, which was the point. A new stadium, sure, but an "indoor" minor league park? Not happening.

I thought the Vegas park proposal was indoor. Maybe I heard that wrong.

Is it wrong of me that I'm enjoying the idea of the nationals prospects playing in 105 degree heat?

Steve's point is somewhat correct. The Stadium is separate from the team, so conflicts could still arise but it's probably very unlikley that they'll move. Maybe someone can look it up, but I wonder if a major league owned minor league team has ever moved. It's not like another small city is going to promise the mets a new minor league stadium and try to entice them away and even if they did - the mets would need to consent.

Savannah moved to Columbia so, It happens but Savannah (Greyson) was a very old stadium in a bad neighborhood if I remember correct. Even if the team did move a move would likely stay in the international league/North East and would require the mets approval.

I really think this purchase eventually ends with the AAA team moving to CT. It may take some time (like a decade) but I'm pretty confident that happens.

To a degree, sure, but that assumes that the bizarre environment affects everyone the same way. I'm not sure that that's actually the case.

I think the Mets agreed not to move the team out of Syracuse until at least 2025, so you may be onto something.
