I'd be pretty shocked if Morrison settles for 1 year. This is his time to try and cash in.

Pass.

I want no part of players like Morrison or Lind. If we're going to plug in a player and just hope for a good season, we may as well have Smith out there every day.

Morrison was a 3+ win player this season and hit 38 HRs.

His first ever good season. You think this is the new him going forward? I'm not convinced.

Heyman just on the FAN regurgitating that Matz for Dee trade proposal.

I'd give up Gsellman or Wheeler for Gordon but not Matz. Injuries and all, he (Matz) is still the better pitcher IMO.

I'm not suggesting he's coming here or taking a 1 yr deal. I wouldn't expect him to sign for any less than 3/40M. Looks like he and the Royals have a mutual interest.

Adam Lind should be cheap enough. I don't think the market overvalues 1-dimensional 1b types. The Nats declined a $5m option. Thats the kind of guy I'd bring in for 1st, and address OF separately (not 1 guy for both).

If Dom is clearly superior, Lind is your AdA/Kelly Johnson/whoever type off the bench that we lacked in 2016 after Conforto pushed his way into the lineup and the 4 OFers were basically never healthy together again. If not, Dom goes to AAA. Or you shop Dom around and wait on Alonso or Mazeika or whoever coming up - I'm not worried much about 1B long term, you can always fill that spot.

Lind would be a decent addition to platoon with Flores at 1st. Was it confirmed that the Nats declined his option on their end versus him declining his part?

Yes.

It would be a stunning upset if #Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton is traded anywhere besides the #Stlcards or #SFGiants. They each have the money to pull it off, and Cards have loaded farm system, if necessary

Except he has no trade rights and has not-so-subtly indicated he wants to go to the Dodgers.

The Dodgers payroll is already pretty maxed out and they're going to have to deal with a Kershaw extension shortly.

Here's a wildcard team to watch - if indeed the Stanton talk heats up - the A's. They have like $0 payroll commitments going forward. And of course the Phils are another team that could easily absorb a big contract. But there have been rumblings that the A's could make a big splash this winter. I could see it.

Free agent contract predictions by Heyman's expert:

Frazier 3 years, $32M
Bruce 3 years, $40M
Reed 4 years, $35M
Morrison 2 years, $22M
Chatwood 3 years, $24M
Walker 2 years, $21M
Shaw 2 years, $12M
Nunez 2 years, $14M
McGee 2 years, $15M
Duda 1 year, $5M
Reyes 1 year, $6M

Some of these seem low to me and I don't see any way Reyes gets 6.

Well, you could certainly see a Duda reunion coming if that is all it will require to sign him.

Nitey can save his jokes on the topic but 1 year 5 it would be a no-brainer.

I agree. That would show a complete lack of brains.
