I'm a lot less hostile to the act when he isn't the worst pitcher in baseball.

Guy could be the nicest person in the world, but $6m would still be expensive for this:

Mets are just in a super weird position with almost every aspect of the team. It makes a "what would you do?" proposal tough. Not to mention, their best offensive player might not available until May/June?

The sad part is I have no faith in this front office working it. Everything should be on the table this offseason and it just isn't.

Not getting Yelich and Gordon but if they are dumping salary you may be able to get Yelich if you're willing to take on Prado.

Yelich's contract is so club friendly it would be worth almost anything reasonable to try to get him in CF

Trade Rosario for Marcell Ozuna only if the Mets are convinced he can play CF for the next 5 years. Sign Cozart for SS. Sign Kintlzer or Reed for the BP. Sign Yhoulis Chacin for the Starting rotation.

I'd figure the Marlins are going to trade Stanton, but just not to the Mets. I would pursue Yelich and Gordon (combined $80M in salaries). Start with Cespedes and offer to take on some of Yo's salary ($87M remaining). Allow them to choose a few names from anyone on the roster not named deGrom, Syndergaard, Matz, Familia, Rosario or Conforto.

Mets get two athletic, well-rounded players. Marlins get a local hero, some salary relief and a few lottery tickets.

Mets also sign Colon, Ceseck and Joe Smith.

So you don't want Yelich and Gordon? The Marlins aren't going to just give them away...

Dennis Cook
Al Leiter
Mike Piazza
Carlos Delgado

All players the Marlins have essentially given away to the Mets. And under similar circumstances to what exist now. Plus, I thought I was staying in the spirit of the OP.

Think I said this elsewhere, but as much as he is intriguing, before this past year was the time to get him.

Is he the .924 hitter, the .773 hitter, or the .691 hitter?

Personally, I think he is closer to the .780-.800 hitter.

"Harvey's Act" being... what, exactly? Having the single greatest season returning from TJS and then suffering TOS, a career killer?

I'm so tired of this fanbase killing Matt Harvey. Sick of it.

The Mets wouldn't trade Jayce Boyd straight up for a $200M contract.

I think you may be blind to some of Harvey’s personality quirks

Or it could have been his breakout year. And he wasn't available "before" this past year. I'm sure if Sandy could have had a crystal ball and traded for every player before their breakout year he would.

You know I criticize this team for their bashing guys on the way out game, but there are loud enough whispers where even I, who's not really insider connected at all, have heard plenty about Harvey's alleged exploits that I have a feeling we're going to get a real whopper of a news dump whenever he finally does leave.

I think the above idea that Harvey's a guy who gave everything he had and sacrificed his career for the franchise is a little too idealistic/polyanna.

But maybe I'm just becoming everything I hate.
