Free agent contract predictions by Heyman's expert:

Frazier 3 years, $32M
Bruce 3 years, $40M
Reed 4 years, $35M
Morrison 2 years, $22M
Chatwood 3 years, $24M
Walker 2 years, $21M
Shaw 2 years, $12M
Nunez 2 years, $14M
McGee 2 years, $15M
Duda 1 year, $5M
Reyes 1 year, $6M

Some of these seem low to me and I don't see any way Reyes gets 6.

At those prices, I'd sign Bruce, Chatwood, Duda, Nunez, and Shaw all for only $39 million in 2018 commitments.

I don't see the Duda price as unreasonable. He's been bad the last 2 years, when healthy, and is starting to look like an empty-power platoon guy with durability concerns, aka, puts him in the Brandon Moss type area. He got 2/12 last year so could see Duda getting that, but he may want to take the 1 year deal and try to bounce back. Moss was older, so he took the years.

Carig's dropping all sorts of nuggets, 280 characters at a time.

Says the sole focus is pitching. They will carry 8 relievers and pull guys before the 3rd time through the order (other than Noah and Jake).

Juan lagares will be in CF. They will not address the lineup other than a few versatile guys they can shuffle around.

This looks like a great plan for a really bad team.

This one was kinda weird tho:

Pitching failed the Mets big time last year. But there’s no upgrading it, really. They just need to stay healthy, or take measures to build in more protections when guys go down, etc.

You think this group will put together a roster than will be able to "bullpen" their way through 162 games? Come on. They'll put together the best bullpen 1 year deals can buy, which is to say, a bad bullpen full of maybes and injury risks and old guys and then feign shock when this year's versions of Brandon Lyon or Jim Henderson or Fernando Salas don't work out.

If 2-3 teams think that contract is reasonable, then it's too low. As everyone knows, time will tell, but I think a lot of these estimates are low.

Contracts have less to do with what guys are worth than what the teams writing the checks want.

I've always loved a good underdog story. Go Mets (2018). I know an underdog when I see one.

I will say tho, that there could be more utility gained here by allocating most of that $30M to the pen then elsewhere. There was an 8 fwar difference between the best pen this season and the Mets. Between that and just keeping players on the field, that could easily mean a 15-20 game swing.

Well, if they won't do anything more than 1 yr RP contracts then they will certainly get what they deserve. It's hard to square that idea with bringing Callaway here tho. Until they drop the ball on this, you would have to believe they wanted him so that they could attract some better arms.

Sounds like our offseason will be Reyes and a few relievers...

Wouldn't be surprised by a Kinsler & Kintzler winter.
