Not stressing about him not being here, but wasn't Maz on the list a round or two back? Because I'd pick Maz over most of these guys.

Obviously this is the slot for me with Oswalt. Big durable kid. I think nagging injuries sidetracked his mechanics a bit in 2016 (increasing his K rate oddly), so he backslid a bit, but he had a very solid 2017 all around.

His ceiling is likely a 4, but durable fours can be very useful depth. 18 of 23 true starts he went for 6 IP or more, more than 3 ER only twice.

Not to take this too off topic, but guys like this (I've previously cited Matt Blackham, too) are why I scoff when people try to pump up Ryder Ryan as being "interesting."

Sure, anybody who can throw hard is interesting. They're just not that hard to find. This guy we probably gave $1,000 to. I don't remember what Blackham's signing bonus was. What was Uceta's (maybe he was a big bonus baby - I just dont ever remember his name until this year). Etc etc. How much did we pay Josh Smoker?

That doesn't mean those guys are proper returns for a real good bat at the deadline where you had a bidding war going for a guy.

Uceta did not get a major bonus. I do like Blackham though. I could see him sniped.

So, sure, Rule 5, another way to just add a lower level big arm.

More ammo for the fire to say no, as interesting as you might find Ryder Ryan, him + that schmo from Milwaukee were not an acceptable return for our 4/5 hitters for most of the season.

Oh I wasn't disagreeing with you. I was just making the sidepoint that Blackham seems like a guy who could be sniped and actually have a shot to surprisingly stick. he didn't belong in Columbia all year and had he thrown say 25 good innings in A+ suddenly "hmmm maybe he can help the 2018 Mets second half" would be the narrative.

I believe northway is correct. Patrick Mazeika was on our ballots a couple of polls ago, but dropped off--was it due to lack of votes?

No. I copied and pasted the previous poll by accident and thus Mazeika was removed. He will be in the next poll after the run-off.
