I have Evans in the 20s.

Molina is the easy pick here for me

And I think Evans is in the 20's for me also

Not sure how he even leap frogs over Cheech

His success in AAA is not that significant in that it supplants cheeches past success. Cheech was much better at AAA at a younger age. I think Cheech has more upside offensively and defensively.

I can understand some liking Molina here. Guy is still having successful campaigns by the numbers. Still appears to be a RP profile but happy to see them roll with him as a SPer until proven otherwise.

I think the case for Cheech and Evans is close. There is just a year separating them so this is inconsequential. By the numbers there isn't a big difference. I think the batted ball profile indicates that Evans has made some adjustments the past couple of seasons and his LD rate shows it. The eye test validates that as he has an easy gap to gap approach. But the separator is that he looked pretty comfortable at 3B and 2B and can prob pass temporarily at SS in a pinch. Cheech appears to be 2B only at this point.

Thompson homers off of Touki

Touki's pure stuff is ACE quality. Whether he gets there is another story.

I probably have Thompson over Evans, but I go back and forth between those two a little.

Evans vs. Cecchini is tough. Between AA, AAA, and MLB, Evans has now hit .303/.357/.444 in 934 PA. Cecchini at those levels has hit .297/.360/.415 in 1574 PA. That's not that much worse, and Cecchini was younger as well. But if you put more weight on the most recent performance, Evans just looked much better this year.

I think if you think this was just a lost year for Cecchini, and you're confident he'll bounce back, you rank him higher. My head says you should maybe stay with the guy who was considered a top prospect all along. And he probaby has the higher perfect world ceiling. But my gut right now says I believe more in Evans. He just looks better on both sides of the ball right now.

I also think it's a tough comparison with Molina. I think Molina has a shot to be a decent pen arm, but I think you have to believe he can be a late inning guy for that to be a better ceiling than a good utility guy. I'm just not sold that Molina's ceiling is really higher right now, and I think it's probably even more uncertain.

Especially since neither are SSs...

You have to factor in how unconsciously hot Evans was after July 1, and how awful he was in April, May and into June. Interesting how Evans sort of arrived from no-wheresville over the last two years.

Evans passes the eye test at third defensively.

Depends what you mean. In the long run, no, but again both played parts of 4 minor league seasons at SS so I think both should be viable there in a pinch which is all you'd be asking them for anyway. I think the separator is 3B tho. I think Evans is viable there.

| agree. I do like Evans as he represents the typical "blue collar underdog." We have another one who finally has earned his way to the majors in TJR. However, despite some concern with his 2017 season and the drop in his FB speed, Molina still has to be regarded as a prospect and 2018 will probably be his "make or break" year.
