Certainly did it with this, everyone including me was rolling their eyes over the Long is the frontrunner and Acta the leader talk.

Not everyone. I have no reason to feel those choices were worse than any of the other candidates.

This process confirms further that Carig a total stooge for the Mets. He was all in on the Long hire. They used him for misdirection or just to make him look bad after that hit piece at the end of the year.

Why does Carig or anyone "look bad" in this? Because he theorized Long was a front runner? Big deal. Carig was also one of the first today to break the news on the Mets ruling out candidates.
And if the Mets are going to be angry about the story written last month....they should be angry about the FO and the players who leaked stuff.... not the reporter writing a story about stuff they told him.

Carig looks bad because his reports of who the Mets were leaning towards were reported after someone else reported those names. I still can't believe all the fans Carig has fooled into thinking he's in the know.
He didn't break much before and he's certainly bot breaking anything after his hit piece on TC.

I don't see how that first part makes him look bad either. A number of reporters mentioned the same candidates - as they should - those guys were the candidates. Reporters shouldn't avoid writing about the Mets managerial candidates just because they weren't the first one to tweet about it.
And that reasoning is also very different from what was suggested above- that the Mets fooled Carig into thinking Long was a real candidate out of some kind of revenge. Which would be an incredibly lame type of revenge (oh wow...the Mets made Carig say something nice about Long...so crazy!) ....and it wasn't just Carig viewing Long as a serious candidate anyway.
And I really couldn't care less who "breaks" the news, especially since these days everyone has and/or verifies the same story within minutes of each other..... but I believe Carig was the "first" to report various candidates being eliminated from contention today

Actually, very disappointed it wasn't Acta but completely agnostic on Callaway.
I'm not clear why anyone here is happy? I can see not being unhappy. But since no one here knows what kind of manager he'll be, why the happiness? Just because he wasn't a "retread" or Long or Acta? Dude may turn out to be best manager in baseball history. Or the worst. Since we don't know at this point, why the elation?
I mean, Francona's comments are him are certainly promising but still ...his name may as well be Jack Callaway (cause we don't know Jack).

Are people elated? Maybe just happy that they took a chance on someone new? Maybe it means a little more outside the box thinking which would be nice in other areas too?
