Rookie maximums for at-bats (130), games pitched (30) or innings (50) in the major leagues"

If the 2 leaders are within 5% of each other, or the leader has less than 35% there will be a run-off between the top 2. If a run-off results in a tie the tiebreaker will be vote total in the previous poll, we will continue to "go back" in the polls until there is a clear leader.
*Rosario ineligible
*Dom ineligible

P.S. don't stress too much if you feel player X deserves to be on this list vs. player Y. It's extremely unlikely someone not yet nominated would be win any given poll. Nominate those you see fit.
** Executive decision, pulled the plug early on #7. By having the polls begin in the morning it allows for a more lively discussion. Lindsay was running away with the vote. Same with #10. Poll #11 will only have 9 options, I accidently had Kay listed a second time (copy and paste, sue me lol)

1) Andres Gimenez (SS) 12/27 votes-44%
2) David Peterson (LHP) 12/24 votes-50%
3) Mark Vientos (SS/3B) 13/24 votes-54%
4) Peter Alonso (1B) 21/28 votes-75%
5) Thomas Szapucki (LHP) 10/22-45%
6) Justin Dunn (RHP) 4/20-20%, runoff with Lindsay/Guillorme/Kay 9/22-41%
7) Desmond Lindsay (OF) 12/26-46%
8) Luis Guillorme (SS) 8/25-32%, run-off with Kay 11/22-50%, advances due to more votes in previous poll
9) Anthony Kay (LHP) 9/24-38%, run-off with Bashlor 10/20-50%, advances due to more votes in previous poll
10) Tyler Bashlor (RHP) 11/16-69%
11) Tomas Nido (C) 6/24-25%, run-off with Molina and Oswalt 12/20 60%
12) Marcos Molina (RHP) 6/20-30%, run-off with Evans 13/20-65%
13) Ronny Mauricio (SS) 6/17-35%

Regardless of what people think of him, it’s gotta he Flexen at some point here. Come on.

Mazeika and Evans over him? Give me a break.

Flexen should go soon, but I think he didn't do anything to help his standing this year. Cheech here might make the most sense. I also like Mazeika perhaps more than I should. Also considering a David Thompson hail mary. Deep in toss a coin territory for me.

I've always loved a good underdog story. Go Mets (2018). I know an underdog when I see one.

I agree. I picked Humphreys but only because I feel he has a higher upside over Flexen.

Well, some people are pretty high on Evans. I think that for Mazeika, it's all about whether one believes he can stay behind the plate. If not, I'm not sure there is a defensive home for him, so that's a lot of eggs in one basket.

Some see Evans with a stick similar to TJR, but with more defensive value. So a profile like that ostensibly has value.

AVG/OBP/Slug%

TJ Rivera - Minors - .324/.370/.435
Phil Evans - Minors - .260/.323/.360

They are not the same type of hitter....

Yes, we know that career numbers aren't impressive for Evans. Thnx for the C&P. Again, some may not agree, but there are others who see Evans as a stick similar to TJR and with more defensive value. That's the basis for projecting him to have some value going forward. Again, these are all imperfect projections, but even a bat a little less valuable than TJR is balanced by having more defensive value/versatility. An IF UT with a broad skillset and good contact ability is valuable.

For the record, Evans last 2 seasons he was 298/352/437 and 19 HRs and 113RC+ (929 PAs), including a horrible first 2 months of this season. So that is not too far off of TJR's career minor league record, a lot of which occurred after the age at which Evans is now, to be fair.

For further comparison sake, those were Evans age 23 and 24 seasons. TJR's age 23 & 24 seasons were 2012 and 2013 (A & A+) and he was a combined 305/360/398 with 11 HRs in 1018 PAs and 116 RC+. Both had very similar BB and K rates.

Flexen's future is in the bullpen. Sorry, I just can't see giving a middle reliever a vote before some guys that still have upside.

I went Mazeika because he has done nothing but hit and get on base since turning pro. They'll find a spot for him if he keeps this up.

3 seasons
.311 .413 .445

The next half dozen or so are soooooo close, one could actually put a blindfold on and pick....

I still go with pedigree here...Cheech, despite 2017....

BTW: I, too, like Evans somewhat but it is hard for me to pick him Top 20 because there is a possibility the Mets will not even protect him on the 40-man roster. Personally I think that would be a mistake, as he is, at the very least, a cheap AAA pipeline player, which inevitably is very valuable for a team that lacks depth.

I am no fan of Cecchini, but if he can't break the Top 20, this organization is worse off than I thought. Much, much worse.

Wouldn't the further down he is mean they are in better shape?

Typically, until you see the guys getting votes ahead.
