Please, for the love of God, get Robles out of here...

No question. As free agents, the mets could resign them. I recall them resigning a minor league free agent a time or two in the recent past (though I don't remember who). It could happen.

I dunno which thread is governing at this point, but Aoki and Milone, two expected non-tenders, have both now been cut loose (early).

I merged them both and renamed if that's okay.

I think there's a good chance the resign Aoki, unless they'd rather wait out the free agent market for another bargain RF.

(and merging the threads was smart - not sure why the Nooooooos). or am I missing a joke?

So No Aoki and No Reyes, roster stands at 35 (or did I miscount?)

I'm assuming Cabrera & Blevens being picked up is a given. The team needs an OF. They have only Cespedes, Conforto, Nimmo, Lagares on the 40 right now. They need at least 1 OF and probably a guy for minor league depth as well.

They probably need a 2nd baseman and they probably need a starting pitcher. That's 3 major league signings, leaving room for just 2 Rule 5 additions. Some people want them to sign a relief pitcher but I don't see it happening. They'll try to make due with their depth and fill in starters.

I think another move or two are coming.

I could still see them signing Kendrick as a 2B/OF to fill 2 holes, but time will tell. An argument could be made that they need another lefty too with just Ascab (switch hitter, slightly better as a righty), Conforto, Nimmo & Dom as the lefties. Bringing back Aoki or Walker (switch but better as a lefty) or Dee Gordon or Bruce would help boost their lefty bats.

I know, none of these guys are exciting, but I don't think any of us anticipate an exciting season.

Kudos to HK and Ralf.

New York Mets @Mets

We've signed INF Phil Evans to a minor league contract with a major league Spring Training invite.

As expected.

Just to add, it didn't make any sense for them to have invested 6+ years developing Evans, finally seeing some payoff, to then just cut him loose... esp with 2 option years still intact.

Whatever one thought of him, there is some potential value in a player with that skillset, esp since 3B has been a black hole here. It made no sense to bail on him now.
