Sandy hiring him is probably what took him out of the running for Callaway's PC search.

Goodwin officially gone, expect Tuefel there. Looks like bench coach is the only unknown.

Looks like Callaway really didn't get anyone of his own people, so I assume the bargain was he gets to choose bc.

Eiland played with Callaway, he may have had some say there (even if his candidacy was suggested before Callaway was hired). In fact, it would be surprising if he did not given the fact they clearly know each other.

Ruben Amaro Jr. new 1B/Outfield/Baserunning coach.

I kid you not.

Well, he can help out in the FO... more bang for the buck.

When I worked for MLB, the industry nickname for him was Ruin Tomorrow...

Hey A.J. Hinch was an assistant GM and then became manager. So maybe Amaro is going to be back up in case Callaway can't cut it. :D

This is from his Wikipedia page:

Quote:
His performance with the Phillies was unlike his predecessor;[11] in May 2014, Sporting News ranked Amaro the worst general manager in Major League Baseball, noting his propensity to sign aging veterans who fail to perform at a level commensurate with their contract.[12] He was removed from his position with the Phillies on September 10, 2015

:) Well thank goodness he's not going to be the GM.

That's largely over the Ryan Howard contract.

The Phils acquired Crawford, Altherr, Nola, Hoskins, Alfaro & Nick Williams while he was GM, as well as some of their better prospects in what is one of the leagues best systems right now. His tenure as GM is looking a lot better now than when it did in 2014, which btw included 3 straight playoff years during his tenure iirc.
