He posted yesterday pictures of himself working out in St. Lucie at the ballpark with the "Barwis Methods" hashtag so while it's possible he's leaving and still working with Barwis, my money is on him already signing a new minor league deal to remain.

Not to get on my soapbox here, but Ali Sanchez is a non prospect.

Well if we're going 50 deep, we might have to include him. But to me, probably anyone outside the top 30 is pretty close to being a non-prospect.

Only included him becuase I was discussing catchers. And he might be the next one after the top 3. But I wasn't by any means nominating him for the poll.

I just think he's only a name - and people search for positives - because of the bonus. Jeff's defense report was basically that he didn't stick out there either, just it was better than the offense. ANyway, I just think in a blind taste test, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between him and whatever org catch and throw guy might be placed against him. I don't see any difference between him and Jose Garcia, another bigger bonus guy who supposed to be advanced defensively but the bat has never developed and, well, now he's a guy getting 100 ABs as the 3rd catcher on a full season team, where I think Sanchez is headed shortly.

I mostly agree. Obvously the arm is good, given the CS numbers, but there's more to catcher defense than controlling the running game. I don't know that he stands out defensively in other aspects, but he has supposedly made enough progress in them.

Anyway, I was thinking if both he and Uriarte are assigned to Columbia next year, he's almost a backup already. Probably one gets sent to Brooklyn in June, and if it's Sanchez, he'd be returning to a place he was 2 years earlier. Brandon Brosher probably isn't sticking at catcher, but they may as well let him play the position in St. Lucie. But Brosher, two years older, isn't obviously a better prospect at this point, either. So he's young enough to still get some chances, but he needs to hit better somewhere for that to keep happening.

Corey Oswalt

In a system this thin .. a pitcher who had a very successful season at AA needs to go in this spot

2.28 era
1.18 whip
119/40 k/bb

I think there are prospects on this list that have higher upside value ... but they are either too far away without a track record or hurt

Whoop whoop! Somebody else with a vote for future Cy Young award winner Oswalt!
