NY Mets fans - annually reduced to hoping the other teams in their division suck so they can sneak into postseason.

Ralf - suddenly realizing what has been evident for many years about the Mets

Ralf get your discouragement m, I feel the same way. I’ve been waiting 30 years for our time to return. There are brief pockets of success and then all of a sudden something happens. I’ve gone from a die hard passionate fan but as I’ve aged, had kids I move more towards casual fan. And as more of a casual fan have gained more acceptance to the Mets desire for mediocrity not excellence.

Yep, but in a wild card race with teams from other divisions it's an advantage having a team in your division that's not trying.

Not when every division has at least one dud (San Diego, Cincinatti). The dud in our division's just changing from the Phillies to the Marlins this year.

Besides like I said watch Yelich and Ozuna go to one of the other WC teams now.

Still better than Stanton going to one of those WC contenders like SF or StL

While Bryan Shaw has history with Mickey Callaway, there’s been no indication that he’s signing with the Mets. May be waiting for better to come along. Exec from another team believes he has multiple 3-year offers.

If Shaw gets 4, then no.

Remember that November optimism on a quick strike for RPs?

Ehalt:

Also not getting sense Mets are close to a deal with a reliever. Waiting to see how the market starts to set.

Why would they bid against themselves...? There are other options in any case. Not worried about that.

I am more worried about them spending on pieces that duplicate other potential in house pieces (1B/C), then having no money to fully address other pressing needs (and half-a$$ing it in the process)
