Just saw this. What a workhorse bulldog pitcher. Tragic at such a young age.

Very sad for his family. Way too young. First ballot HOF next year for sure

It's so hard to not think of Corey Lidle right now, and every other tragedy that we've experienced in the MLB. And it's uncomfortable to have a separate "MLB" section of tragedies. His family doesn't see it that way, I don't know how we think it's much different than random heartbreak experienced all over the world, every single day.

These players, these millionaires, these World Series Champions, these famous guys. Somehow it feels like they are in a separate class, a lucky class, while the rest of us live in the real world. When we watch, we think somehow, at some level they're saved from normalcy, from normal things that happen to normal people. But they are unprotected like the rest of us.

They are not saved, they are not protected.

RIP

Ugh...this is a gut punch. Loved watching him pitch. RIP indeed.

My favorite pitcher not named Pedro, and one of the guys who helped me get back into the game in the early-'00s. Loved him even when he was consistently strangling us as a Phil. There's an extremely high probability that we will never again see a pitcher come anywhere close to his complete game numbers.
