I don't even get why the Yankees need to acquire a SPer, esp if they have to give up good prospects to do it. I thought they were going to stretch Green out. Plus Chance Adams is probably ready to contribute. And they still have Cessa. I could see them signing a swing guy like Liriano perhaps. If a SPer goes down during the season, they can address it then.

Add Harper to the list of NY writers suddenly growing a set

Cain would be a great fit in CF. What kind of contract is he likely to command? 4 for 72?

Omg, that would be a horrendous waste if limited resources. Cain would be lucky to get the Granderson deal.

Frankly, are we even sure Cain can out-play a Lagares/Nimmo platoon?

Really, a Lagares/Nimmo platoon vs. Cain?

Cain's WAR the last 4 years:
2014- 4.8 in 133 games.
2015- 6.5 in 140 games
2016- 2.5 in 103 games
2017- 4.1 in 155 games

An article that was supposed to be critical of the payroll and owners sure spent a lot of time analyzing the draft.

Weak effort by Harper imo. Not surprising though since he's on the Wilpon payroll at SNY.

Cain's value is all in his defense. How do you think that will trend for a 32 year going forward?

Yeah, ignore the .800 OPS from a premium position.

The Mets have approximately $60m in luxury cap space. If we had better owners, I bet you could convince the Marlins to take a lesser prospect package by taking on all of Prado's and Chen's contracts. Thats about $100m of salary relief for them over the next few years.

Let it go. It is what it is.

I was thinking more along the lines of

a Pollock deal...(maybe Ramos, Lagares and TDA for Pollock, Owings)

or Jackie Bradley...(Gsellman, Wilmer for JBJ, Daniel Gonzalez); opens up for JD Martinez.

Or the pipe dream...
Matz, Ramos, Callaghan, Wilmer to Minnesota for Dozier and Buxton (yeah, right)

You also might want to let go these ridiculous trade suggestions... just sayin'

Probably so. Except they are probably no more so than others. Just sayin'

The time to have Lorenzo Cain on your team was between 2014-17 and not 2018-21.

Tough call. A dang shame, Lagares should be the guy Cain is, but he's an injury prone underachiever instead. Very similar skill sets/tools.

His value is not all in his defense, outside of a down 2016 with the bat.
