Then they were colossally wasting their time. No different then when the Mets were on the verge of acquiring Junior in 1999

Funny thing is Junior said in a recent interview he might have accepted the trade if he had been given more than like a half hour to think about it.

To depressing for me to even consider believing that is true.

The more frustrating part is the Castro and no top prospects.

Why? Better that a divisional opponent lost a great player and got little in return

I mean from the stand point that it’s like Jeter was all in to help the Yankees even if that’s just the perception. It’s great they traded him for a lot less than many predicted.

You're not wrong about that. Or at least pick up another hobby or sport, Don't let the Mets be your one and only, that's the best advice I can give. That really sets up misery.

One other candidate for the Mets' second-base opening is Starlin Castro: The Mets plan to speak with the Marlins about him.

I just threw up a little in my mouth.

And they will probably want more from us for Castro than they got for Stanton

Of course though to be fair they saw Castro (and what they could get for him) as the main piece to a Stanton trade more than those two meh prospects they got back.

Mets seem focused on trades re: second baseman. But an option in their back pocket if they can’t find a deal: Jose Reyes.

We won't because we're already in too deep. But there are many many potential baseball fans coming of age in this area. And guess what? They're not going to know the Mets exist because baseballs version of the 76 Montreal Canadiens will be playing in the Bronx. We got crushed like a bug here.

Shame on Major League Baseball for facilitating this brazen con. What should happen is for the Yankees to be afflicted with the same freakish misfortune that we have been, for Stanton to spend more time on the DL than on the field, and for their planned baby bomber dynasty to rot Generation K/Dark Knight style.

What WILL happen? Home run records will be shattered, World Series will be won. Calls will go their way. Michael Kay will smugly squeal and gloat, Yankees mystique and aura will reign supreme.

And I know there aren't many of them, but how the heck do you explain this to Marlins fans? Why exactly should whatever's left there spend another penny on that team after being hijacked by this clown ownership group? Just dissolve them at this point and be done with it.
