Since we’re discussing trades… Mets have made it clear to other teams that they’re open to trading starting pitchers not named deGrom or Syndergaard. But no traffic there thus far. You figure one of those guys could be used in deal for second baseman.

So, lots of options at second base for Mets at prices that should work. Winter Meetings will be a key time to make progress on those tracks.

Lay that groundwork. The excitement can’t be contained!

Shocking to me that the baseball universe is going to stand back and allow Derek Jeter to engineer a trade of Giancarlo Stanton to the Yankees for flotsam. What a joke.

Gotta say, Brian Cashman has been running circles around the rest of the league for several years now.

What are they going to do? Both teams operated within the rules.

If I were the other 28 teams, I would have called for an investigation. Shocked that Manfred and the league office have allowed this farce to happen.

They're all fine with this. This is the league they want.

Seriously?

What did Brian Cashman do here?

By the time he got to work Stanton was already picking out a locker.

We won't because we're already in too deep. But there are many many potential baseball fans coming of age in this area. And guess what? They're not going to know the Mets exist because baseballs version of the 76 Montreal Canadiens will be playing in the Bronx. We got crushed like a bug here.

Shame on Major League Baseball for facilitating this brazen con. What should happen is for the Yankees to be afflicted with the same freakish misfortune that we have been, for Stanton to spend more time on the DL than on the field, and for their planned baby bomber dynasty to rot Generation K/Dark Knight style.

What WILL happen? Home run records will be shattered, World Series will be won. Calls will go their way. Michael Kay will smugly squeal and gloat, Yankees mystique and aura will reign supreme.

And I know there aren't many of them, but how the heck do you explain this to Marlins fans? Why exactly should whatever's left there spend another penny on that team after being hijacked by this clown ownership group? Just dissolve them at this point and be done with it.

Difference is, if Stanton loses time in a contending season, the Yanks can afford to pay for quality to fill the gap. They can out spend bad luck.

Yanks are in the AL I really don't care what happens with thim

Stanton to the Yankees is annoying, but does not make or break the offseason...

Sandy's lack of due diligence and creativity would.

Give Brian Cashman the 2009 KC Royals and let's see if he still has a job today. 50/50 at best.
