So much Yankee envy and hatred in here. It's hysterical.

Mets will never win in the eyes of a few of the posters in this very thread. You complain about Neil Walker because it's "not exciting and it's the same status quo", Carig posts about Reyes (likely a troll?)...complain, Kipnis? complain, Castro, who's actually only 27 and making decent money...oh complain also....Sandy and Co can't even win off the names they maybe looking at!

like what the hell do you want the Mets to do?

Baez ain't coming here, Altuve isn't coming here so get over the sarcastic posts about the Mets offseason, it's annoying.

But their Yankee fan friends laugh at them in the school yard.

I'm a Nets and Jets fan too so I get it's tough being a fan of these respective teams. But complaining isn't going to help. I try to enjoy and hope the respective teams are actually trying to improve the club in anyway possible, especially with certain restraints these teams may have due to financials or lack of talent.

I'm a Nets fan, they haven't had a top 5 pick in YEARS but have been top 5 pick worthy because of how bad they have been. They had to take some years in order to gather even decent enough assets to even bother trading and acquiring talent that other teams soured on. Just this year they had enough ammo to begin to acquire said talent. So getting D'Angelo Russell and now Okafor are great risks for a team that hasn't had the chance to get said talent.

Forget what the Yankees are doing. Our front office watched a flawed team all season and still doesn’t have a plan. It’s a bunch of maybe we could do this and let’s see how the market shapes up for that. How about targeting specific players? How about prioritizing guys at a specific position? They don’t even operate like a small market team. They are shopping at the clearance rack at Walmart hoping to find useful items.

Show me a Mets fan who doesn't hate and envy the Yankees and I'll show you a dispassionate "it's just a game" inconsequential loser.

I wish the Wilpons were filled with the same hate and envy that the Steinbrenners, that Belichick, that Bobby Clarke had

I don't envy the Yankees, I simply object to them and I'm not the only one. Royals fans staged a protest and walked out of a game some years back over the unbalance in baseball. MLB's taken some steps and the 2 richest teams (Yankees/Dodgers) have taken appropriate counter measures to work around. We need a new set of rules to keep baseball fair and balanced. That's not envy, it's in support of fair play.

The NFL has a good system where any of the 32 teams has a chance at wining and putting together a contender. The NBA does too. MLB is rigged, and I object to a rigged system.

Thought the plan was

OF/1B
RP (1 or 2)
2B

Oh, I think we should call this the Stanton/Yankee/boo-hiss thread and make a new winter-meetings thread since the winter meetings haven't even started. :-)

For the record, I enjoy the comedy of losing. When I was a kid, sure, losing stung, and I hated it. I even remember hating losing into my 20s and 30s, but at my age, I don't care if my team ends up in last place, I still enjoy the season and the games and I get to look forward to the draft. I don't need my team to win to enjoy the season, though, the trip to the WS in 2015 was lots of fun and I loved it, I enjoy the bad seasons too.

My objection to the Yankees and Dodgers is on principal. It's bad for baseball to let 2 teams employ so big an advantage.
