Positive spin

Harvey comes back strong and Matz stays healthy. Great Rotation!
Wheeler/Gsellman/Lugo Hold down the 5 spot and two bullpen spots.
That gives enough rest to Familia, Ramos, Blevins and Swarzak to be very effective.

Outfield stays healthy and the Corners rake. Infield is average but in the summer we use
the depth we picked up last summer to add Donaldson and he leads us to the playoffs where our starters win the first two series. After that, who knows?

They picked up ALL relievers. You think Josh Donaldson is being traded for RP prospects? They could offer every reliever in the system to Toronto for him and they would pass. They may or may not have picked up big league BP help at the deadline last year but they most certainly did not pick-up MLB trade chips that land you an MVP caliber player (walk year or not).

NYFS where we ALL tend to overrate players rated the best arm picked up at the deadline as the 21st best prospect in the system...

Islanders are being awarded the Belmont land to build a new arena!!! So thank you Jeff and Fred for that!!!!

Otherwise, I have nothing positive to say about anyone in Ownership or Management in this organization. :(

I feel like Donaldson is worth Duda, Grandy, Bruce, Walker and Reed. So yeah, just pool together those returns and get Donaldson. Done deal!

Tavares (if re-signed) = Cespedes

No money leftover to put contender around him.

Just cross your fingers on them youngins'

Fitting that the Pons are part of their rescue...

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

Nobody does. But if one or two look good they can get packaged up with a hitter for some quality short term help.

This is the positive spin thread. Did you really just unspin positive spin?
On Christmas week no less? Enjoy your GRUEL Mr Scrooge :)

The thing about Donaldson is that he's a legit stud. Duda, Bruce, Walker - nice solid players but not studs.

Scale of 1-10, Donaldson's a solid 9.

The players the mets traded were mostly 7s. Donaldson gets you 2 top 100 picks. Reed was probably the highest value player we traded and he's no Donaldson.

I don't think all together those guys have Donaldson's trade value.

If we look at upside . . .

Rosario could be a legit SS, 20-25 homers and a top glove. Nice combo.

Wilmer could hit 25 maybe 30 homers if given the starting job at 2nd. His bat isn't bad.

Nimmo could (maybe) be the leadoff guy we've not had the last few years. Conforto could OPS 900 again, Cespedes could be healthy and OPS 900 as well.

Ascab is league average at can play 3rd. And the pitching, if we get solid bounce backs from a few of Harvey, Matz, Gsellman, Wheeler, I would think this is a division winner level team. Problem is, everything has to turn out right.

The Isles have a decent amount of talent surrounding JT and they have owners who care. They're a true #1 goalie away from being a serious cup contender. Unfortunately they don't grow on trees. LOL
