I think your putting too much value on Cutch... even if he has a good year he wouldn’t get 2 top 100 prospects. He would get 1 guy maybe 2 with decent upside but not top prospects. Think Cespedes/Fulmer Trade and that’s if there’s a sellers deadline market. If Pirates are seriously thinking about trading Cole, then they should be seriously motivated to move both Harrison and Cutch and move them before season start.

Also side note, I’m not sure I’d call Lagares junk...

I don't think one year of Machado is yielding more than that. However the lol makes sense regarding Mets involvement.

I think Machado is such a talent that 1 year of him would absolutely cost more than that.

If that was the cost - why wouldn’t every team offer that?

It’s an offer that doesn’t hurt the Mets now or in the future.

The trade proposals have gotten silly in here. Falling into the trap of believing other teams are in the business of taking on our guys who we think stink for their cheap studs so we don’t have to pay anything in free agency.

I'd pretty much give up any 3-4 of our prospects for Machado, though not sure that gets it done without including Rosario (I would include Dom).

Winning the World Series the next 3 years would definitely be worth it, because you know the Wilpons are going to pony up $400M and we're only 1 player away.

The problem with Machado is he's a one year rental. I'd have to be a small market team with several key players expiring to make that move. I don't see the Mets as that right now. The mets are a mess and an unknown going into 2018. No way I bet the farm (literally) on one year of a top player.

Dixon Machado is more the mets speed. Maybe the Wilpons should focus on him. The newspaper articles could still say "Mets trade for Machado".

Teams are not giving up a Sale package for 1 year of anybody. Now it's certainly possible that the O's don't have any interest in those 3 players but the reported ask is 2 arms. I'm basically just saying that the Mets are stupid for failing to be aggressive on this.

Up till now the issue seemed to be more the opposite - that no one was stepping up to blow the O's away but they still seem pretty dang motivated to move him. Ultimately someone may flinch and offer 2 top 100 prospects but it's not at that point right now.

Matz, one of Gsellman/Lugo/Peterson, and a lesser prospect for Machado. That should at least merit discussion.

You’re kidding right? None of those players have real value in trade.
