I am assuming Frazier is getting a two year deal; likely Reed as well. That's probably $36m for two years of each (Frazier-2/25; Reed 2/15)

Reed should get about twice that. That’s Swarzak money. He’s been better than Wade Davis.

At worst Reed will get a massive 1 year deal but since everyone needs pen help I can’t imagine he’s settling for less than 9-10 per for 3 seasons

I don't think the mets would be talking to him if he'd gotten offers close to that. Sometimes the market dries up. The Yanks & Dodgers are trying to stay under the cap. Most of the other owners/GMs seem to be playing it safe & slow. He might have to settle for less. A bunch of free agents might, but, time will tell.

Still plenty if opportunities for Reed. He's probably not going to have to settle.

Mets should sign Reed for $30 million and 3 years because they're going to need a closer after this season.

They Mets spoke to Cain as well. I'm sure they have even spoken to guys who they have 0% of actually signing. I'm sure they say something like "don't forget about us!". Not even trying to be funny but there is a near 0% chance Addison Reed takes 2 years 15 million. Would be absolutely stunning.

Be prepared to be stunned...just kidding. I think it will be closer to 2/20 than 3/30 though.

Which still makes my point about signing Bruce valid.

There's no real justification at all for Reed taking Juan Nicasio or Anthony Swarzak money. Thats insane. Greg Holland hasn't signed yet either - is he taking 2/15?

Reed, by actual performance, might've been the best reliever available this offseason. He'll still get paid. There's always these moments where you look around and think the top of the market will be left grovelling for undermarket contracts, but someone always steps up. I think of guys like Max Scherzer or Prince Fielder signing later in offseasons when speculation was they'd settle for less than their sky high demands. The best get paid. Someone will eventually realize they want an elite relief arm.

I look at the Cubs and Cardinals as pretty obvious suitors.

There are a bunch of teams who are still very likely to add to the back of their pens - Cards, Angels, Dodgers, Jays, Twins, Tribe, Rangers, and Giants. Those guys will do fine.

The free agent market is only as rich as owners are free-spending. I'm not making any guarantees, but it wouldn't shock me if some of these deals ended up on the low side.

My very very late two cents: The 2018 Mets are a better team WITH Bruce than without Bruce. I thought 3/35 going in would be a good deal; this is not far off. Looks like inking Jose wlll be the final move unless the Wilpons can be convinced to spend a little more on what will possibly be a lot of potentially "value" deals out there (btw: Reed is NOT one of them...he WILL get true market or very close to it. I'm not saying that market for Reed is not a good value but it IS what the guy is worth).

I honestly don't care if the Mets are technically better than they otherwise would be by brining back the same roster as last season. For my sanity and level of entertainment, I would rather watch a worse, different team than a repeat of last season where we all fiddle with our rosaries when any of the pitchers steps onto the mound. That we all watched the season last year and are clamoring to reassemble the same roster is...not entertaining.
