Second Base: Luis Guillorme, Mets He could have challenged for shortstop honors if the presence of Amed Rosario in New York hadn't led the Mets to shift Guillorme to the other side of the bag last June. He's not the quickest middle infielder, but his hands, reflexes and instincts are as good as anyone's in the Minors. He has solid range and arm strength, and he would have led the Double-A Eastern League in fielding percentage at both second (.983) and short (.968) last year if he had played enough at either position to qualify.

Prop to the Wizard (does that work as a nickname - the Wizard?)
but .968 fielding percentage at SS doesn't sound like it should lead the league. Maybe things are different in the minors. The fields aren't as smooth or something, more bad bounces, cause .968 isn't anything special.

Increases his trade value, I guess.
I am looking forward to this guy and Bashlor being in Queens in 2018. He reminds me of the type of player teams with good farm systems develop, and we wish we had.

I don’t know that he’s in Ozzie Smith territory just yet. And yeah, minor league fielding percentages are lower.

Wilmer Flores has a .969 career fielding percentage at SS and .989 at 2nd. It's just a little weird seeing those numbers.

It's the number of balls they get to that is the big difference. Flores has the range of a rock

Would easily be the worst offensive second baseman in Major League baseball. File this under fake news.
Or maybe you could try reading the blurb again? This is about DEFENSE, there isn't one word about OFFENSE here.
Yeah, plus there isn't really such a thing as a second base prospect. There are future washouts and there are shortstops who will switch positions.

Willie Calhoun? He was a 2B who switched positions but could mash.
I was being facetious, but second base is always a weak position at the major league level and an even weaker position at the minor league level. You don't groom a guy to be your second baseman of the future, you hope he's groom him to be your future shortstop until that outlook changes.
