Oh, noes.

Who's going to make me turn off the radio in the 4th inning this season?

I wonder if they’ll make him clean up his act. You know, the Mark Craig and base ball stuff. A bit of a surprising hire considering The Athletic is a subscription service so customers will be looking for exclusive content. When’s the last time Carig broke a story?

Sadly he was pretty much the only guy left I followed on Twitter for Met news with Rubin gone, and yeah he never really 'broke' stuff as much as he discussed it.

He's going to the Athletic, not the Atlantic. As an avid Atlantic reader, I was momentarily excited that they were adding a sports section. Alas.

Will not be missed. I still can't believe anyone follows these writers anymore. None of them break anything and to be honest, none really have anything interesting to say. I'd rather read what the fans think which is why I come here.

Locally and nationally. Now you have to pay to read Ken Rosenthal...and Carig!? Please.

I bet he knew he was leaving when he wrote that one article critical of the Wilpons. I think the Wilpons are probably known to damage careers if reporters get too negative towards them.

I agree. At least when you read what the fans say you get their version of the truth. It just seems lately the reporters are very leery about attacking the Wilpons for fear of reprucusions. It's pretty obvious at this point that every move the Wilpons make is to save money and not put a winner on the field. Reporters should be hammering that fact home. Some of them do but they don't seem to go as far as they should.

I don't think the reporters are "afraid" of the Wilpons. Especially the ones that write for real publications.

I have to disagree with you on that. The Mets are essentially the only NY franchise in the 4 major sports that penny pinches. In my opinion the media was tougher on them before the Adam Rubin/Omar incident. Since then they have really failed to go after them. Sure theres an article here and there but let's be honest SNY hires Daily News, WFAN and NY Post (among others) for their some of their shows. It just feels to me that there's a if you wash my back I will wash yours thing going on.
