Agreed. But it's worth a shot to see if he can rebound. If he doesn't you have Wilmer and Dominic waiting to step right in. You also have the option of putting Bruce at first and giving Nimmo some starts.

Let's stop playing guys out of position. Let Bruce play RF. Let a 1st baseman play 1st base.

All of these position signings makes me think they have a great core of hitters and just need veterans to fill the gaps which just simply is not the case. Trying to catch lightning in a bottle as always.

The Mets silenced David Wright of all people from talking about the signing lol

Even when they do something good, they manage to make me cringe

I don’t think he’s a square peg. He’s a 1b ask to play 1b. He was terrible last year but has a recent history of being a much better hitter than anyone else in that infield. The others are basically a collection of guys who have been slightly above MLB avg bats and a youngster. And if Gonzo sucks it’s a pretty quick fix to get rid of him.

I'm wondering if anyone remembers when Jay Bruce played 1st last year. Granted, it was only a few games, but it was bad, and quickly abandoned.

Like the whole movement to make Conforto the 1B in 2016 - its really not as simple as just handing a corner OFer a 1B glove and tell him to make some scoops.

Agreed other than the quick fix. He's going to have some rope, and I don't expect Dom Smith to even be an improvement over "bad AGone", so if they do make a change, I'm guessing it probably sees Frazier playing more 1B and Reyes playing more.

Possibly. Tho if that’s the alternative that’s even more reason to give AGon a shot
