Sorry to anyone who is offended, but I like looking towards the future.

2019 free agents:

Gonzalez
Harvey
AsCab
Reyes
Ramos
Familia
Blevins

Possible cuts/could be or are out of options

Robles
Montero

7 free agents for sure, possibly another 1-3 depending on how guys do.

Rule 5 adds:

Uceta (if he stays good)
Drew Smith (see above)
David Thompson
Pat Mazeika
Kevin Kacz (I think he gets added)

I think that's it. There's a few long-shots who could squeeze in. Jeff McNeil, Phil Evans, Corey Taylor, Andrew Church (I like Church's chances as a prospect on the rise this year) - he's my sleeper.

But overall, 7 (or more) cuts, 5 adds puts the mets in a pretty good shape for next year. Roster should be at 37-38 when the year ends.

LOL, I thought about including him but felt it was a can of worms best left closed. He's covered in the "possibly 1-3 more" under cuts. (and footnote, I love David Wright and I wish him the best).

Mets will need to shell out big $$ to revamp the bullpen next year.

Possibly...BUT....there is a good chance a lot of the arms they will need will be maturing in the higher minors in 2018. Sandy did have something in mind when he traded for young bullpen arms at and after the 2017 trade deadline. Hope it comes to fruitation; it's not impossible.
