Drew Smith's motion looks...unusual.

Thought Corey Oswalt's stuff was better than advertised.

Flexen looks like another guy who won't be accused of being in the best shape of his life.

Borenstein OTOH looks like a guy who doesn't miss leg day, or arm day for that matter.

Thats all I got.

Curious on Oswalt. Sounded impressive.

Oswalt topped out at 94 but sat 90-92 seemed to have great command of a low fastball. Changeup 82 mhp had late run and he had at least one strikout with it. Looked like a guy who belonged, big big frame.

I was surprised that most of the Major Leaguers were swinging so early in the count--Happy Hour must be at 4pm in Port St. Lonely. Ironically, that's how we won it, with patience, with the guys later on, and the Happy Recap.

Borenstein looked like Popeye. Nice applause for Wilmer, with the nose job. I'm so happy to see these Mets on live TV again. The young guys look great! Can't wait for tomorrow's game.

Nice to hear Keith and Gary again. It's been a long time!

I was actually impressed by Rhame. His stuff looked impressive yesterday.

I guess I wasn't really paying attention but I didn't realize Flexen was a beer keg build until last year.

The arms mostly looked pretty impressive. I guess it's usual for them to be ahead of the bats at this stage, but still encouraging, given the stuff there.

Agree with you guys on Oswalt. Even when the FB is only 90-92, it seems to have a lot of deception/movement. Reminds me of Colon in the heart of his career, when he could keep guys flummoxed with a 90mph FB. Colon in his early years was a hard thrower, and in his Mets years, was sitting more around 88-89. But somewhere in between, he sat around 90-91. Former Met Colin McHugh has also had a nice career so far with a fastball sitting about 91 (though he throws it less often).

In any case, Oswalt seems to have all the other ingredients. Secondaries look solid, and it seems he can hit his spots, knows how to pitch. Was looking even like a potential mid-rotation arm. Despite all the recent rankings, I'm thinking Oswalt > Flexen based on this look.

Rhame is a guy who gets labeled a one pitch pitcher, but he did throw a nice change in there, as well. Too small a sample to say too much on, but if he can command that pitch with any consitency, that will help him.

Tyler Bashlor and Drew Smith also looked good. Smith's funky delivery seems to add deception. He could maybe even be an Addison Reed type of guy.

As for Wheeler, his stuff looked good, as usual. If he can just command and locate just a little better he can be a quality guy.

Would be a nice development to have either of Oswalt or Molina to take a major step forward this year.

I think it’s cuz his head shot doesn’t match the build. I agree though - I think Jeff called him “body by Broxton” last year and I was confused at first.
