Who would make the decision to bring a 26 year old who never played above A ball to major league camp?

And of course this is nitpicking! This is the toy section, isn't it? Find it amusing to be criticized on my post by others who fly into a tizzy with each Met transaction (or non-transaction).

Yes, that is JJ Franco playing SS for the Mets.

I recall reading somewhere that Molina is a plus defender and with that lineup . . . wow.

Guillorme looks more major league ready than Rosario

Is it ok to be stoked about Nimmo?

This is also a by product of the complete lack of anything resembling "interesting" position player prospects in the middle of the system.

Its why we have Jeremy Vazquez, a late round college draftee who spend most of last season in the APPY LEAGUE, getting significant run early.

The most interesting NRI's in camp have been Kevin Kaczmarski, a 26 yr old in AA, and Phil Evans, who we waived last September?

Yeah my early impression having never seen either guy before these games is Bautista > Bashlor, who are both well ahead of the Smith/Callahan/Rhame group.

Anyone know whats up with Uceta? NRI, hasn't appeared at all.

Ask scouts a Met they have liked early this spring and the name Luis Guillorme comes up often. He is not a body beautiful guy, but the scouts like the lefty swinger’s actions on both sides of the ball.

Guillorme is awesome. He looks like a top tier defender up the middle and is a slappy hitter that works counts. He's got Juan Pierre / Luis Castillo but with only 20 SB/season written all over him.

I think it will be more like 5 SB, but main thing is I think he'll get to where he can give you a .700+ OPS.

I think people have known about the glove for awhile, but a lot have underestimated his offensive upside. I think he clearly has more offensive potential than Ruben Tejada (.653 OPS in his Mets career), and can probably as valuable a hitter as for example, Marco Scutaro became, or at least what Justin Turner was in his Mets years.

Combined with his glove, that's not all-star upside, but a guy who can be a solid regular.

He stole 18 bases a couple of seasons ago. He has the speed and can be coached to find the opportunities.

But yea, I'm being optimistic.

He has the offensive skillsets of the typical early 2000's 2-hole hitter.
