Want Wheeler to learn to put away hitters so badly. So far he's John Maine lite.

Not quite as dynamic with the "Rising FB"

I remember when I christened Maine "White Gooden" because of that pitch.

Wheeler has great velo but so-so stuff so far. Just not a put-away guy yet.

I think it's far more that he's a stuff over command guy as of now. He just hasn't had enough time on the mound facing big league hitters to have developed the right command sequences. He has effective movement; it's just that he doesn't command it well yet.

That's a good analysis. You're right, he does have movement, just not command.

Be good for him (ad us) to pitch a full season, regardless of roles
