1st- they won't need a 5th starter till the 3rd week.
2nd- who would a 5th OFer even be?
3rd- who would the 8th RPer be?

I think they would probably try to avoid burying Gsell out in the pen if Lugo (a multi-inning arm) is already there. And at this point (tho I know we've all said this on many occasions in the past), it's hard to see a case for Monty making the cut. Additionally the loser of the Matz/Wheeler battle for the 5th rotation spot has to be ticketed for Vegas, right?

Callaway already said he believes in giving his starters as much rest as possible. The fifth starter will be starting the fifth game of the season.

That could be too. I just figured they might wait to go with 8 arms in the pen especially since they may struggle to get 7.

Nimmo with his second extra base hit of the game. The kid can hit.

A double and a triple.

The Mets should really sit Jay Bruce down and give him his 1B mitt.

And that was after he let somebody into scoring position.

All good feelings erased by Familia tossing batting practice.

We really have no idea what he was throwing since the game is on neither tv nor radio.

He looked pretty good before today. Can't get on a reliever for one bad inning.

He was topping at 94 and using a ton of offspeed stuff the other day. I'm going to posit a guess the stuff hasn't marketedly improved since.

His and Ramos' stuff plus Swarzak's health really dampering the supposed Big 3.

Blevins also has been throwing mid-80's mostly this spring though I'm most confident he can survive a downtick in pure stuff and remain effective.

He's looked ok. Still not seeing the same light's out stuff from past seasons. The back end of this bullpen could turn out to be a major weakness. Keeping my fingers crossed.
