And you can pitch in the majors without a great fastball, it's just harder and harder to dominate..... in Harveys case I don't think HE can pitch without a great fastball. But I do think Vargas can pitch well enough for us to go .500 in his starts and at least give us a competitor in the playoffs if better options are injured.

Nice, that was quick, I like that Callaway makes these decisions without much issue. Do we know if it coincides with vargas, or will gsellman/lugo replace?

This is the juiced ball era, if you can't throw hard your screwed. There are a few exceptions and its usually guys that have tons of movement on their fastballs but they are few and far between. I hope Vargas does great for us but his second half of last season was horrid. I know people blame it on fatigue but it could be the league figured out that if they make him throw strikes they can pummel him.

Coincides with Vargas, I guess, because of the off day we have coming up. Then the plan is for Vargas to start Saturday in San Diego.

Harvey went from 60/65 command, 70/75 fb, 70/75 sl, 65/60 curve, 60/65 changeup and lost at least 3 grades on everything.

I find this talk about Kelenic comical. He's a 19 year old kid who hit .253 at Kingsport
and struck out once a game and people are talking like he's the second coming. Get real people. When you have a chance to get the best reliever in the game who's only 24 and give up Kelenic in the deal, you MAKE that deal. Stop with the nonsense.

I would actually do that Harvey for Ramos swap, though it would probably be wise to wait and see how various players perform over the next couple of weeks.

Good for Harvey. I’m glad he’s being cooperative. It must help that Calloway has such a good rep among pitchers. Kudos all around. Hey, he might turn into a weapon from the pen. It has happened before. And the mets need another weapon there.

I'm gonna hold off on the kudos til we see how he's acting come July. He doesn't have any leverage right now, so not much he can do about it. I do agree that he might show somethin though, as he has tickled the higher velocities and now has no reason to save anything, and can work exclusively on salvaging the slider.

Apparently Harvey replies he’s at a “10” on a scale of 1-10 on how pissed off he is. That could either end up really working in his and the Mets favor or cause him to sulk.

Probably the right move (even if I did say 2 days ago he should get another start), but this is certainly worth a try.

Who gets his next start? Is it officially Vargas?
