The 'alleged industry experts' almost all insisted that Darvish was the more valuable SPer than Arrieta. And yet again, they will be wrong.

Nitey none of your hyperbolic "what will they do with __________" are coming off TOS and the loss of 3 grades off everything they once threw.

Literally Harvey went from 70 grade stuff to 40 grade stuff. Overnight. At age 29.

Harvey's career will depend on whether he can recreate himself into a different pitcher locating his FB and using his offspeed effectively. Can he accept that he'll become a #4 and not be the ace and the Dark Knight? Who knows, but it should probably be with a different team.

Hope to get something from Harvey this year then just let him go. He won’t be worth the headache. The attitude is what made him great but now it’ll just be an annoyance. He is never coming back to elite hell now he may never return to average

It's sad to see how much an injury can derail an athlete's career. Between Wright and Harvey, Mets fans saw two really special talents in the last decade burn out way too soon.

Before TJ, Harvey pitched 237.2 innings with a 2.33 FIP.

And in his return from TJ, he pitched to a 3.05 FIP over 189.1 innings, and had a hell of a start to try to save the team in the World Series.

And then the blood clot, the rib issue and TOS (were those the same issue?) came about and just took his talent away.

It stinks. I hope he can come out of the pen and give the Mets another weapon.

The blood clot HAS to be related to TOS. Right? Otherwise that would be a pretty unbelieveable set of coincidental circumstances.

Because he was pitching without the ability to feel his fingers, no?

I mean, then every pitcher before they have TJS is presumably pitching with elbow pain, so can excuse performances for that.

But I guess - maybe? Who knows. I just don't think its as clean of a narrative. Its just the harshness of the position.

From the Mayo clinic:

Quote:
Thoracic outlet syndrome symptoms can vary, depending on which structures are compressed. When nerves are compressed, signs and symptoms of neurological thoracic outlet syndrome include:

Muscle wasting in the fleshy base of your thumb (Gilliatt-Sumner hand)
Numbness or tingling in your arm or fingers
Pain or aches in your neck, shoulder or hand
    Weakening grip

Signs and symptoms of vascular thoracic outlet syndrome can include:

Discoloration of your hand (bluish color)
Arm pain and swelling, possibly due to blood clots
Blood clot in veins or arteries in the upper area of your body
Lack of color (pallor) in one or more of your fingers or your entire hand
Weak or no pulse in the affected arm
    Cold fingers, hands or arms
    Arm fatigue with activity
Numbness or tingling in your fingers
    Weakness of arm or neck
    Throbbing lump near your collarbone

I think it's very likely that he was pitching through TOS long before he was diagnosed.
