Source told me he's extremely "awkward" at 1b, as if he's new to the position. Said at times he looks as Piazza did when he was at 1b. Thinks he has room to get better but will always be below average and can't really explain away the awkwardness.

Awkward is a good word for his Fielding lol.

He's a bug dude that looks like he's still growing into his body.

His head doesn't look like it fits on his torso. He's just a weirdly built dude.

That said - bats find their ways into lineups. You just can't have sub-professional levels of defense.

I would think barring an even more productive (and prolonged) stretch of absolute mashing, we will see a few other scenarios play out before Alonso is given a chance:

1. Dom gets recalled because he is on the 40-man and Alonso isn't.

Or...

2. Bruce moves to 1B and splits time there with Wilmer. With Bruce playing more at 1B, Nimmo becomes more of a regular in the OF.

I want 2.

I don't think a guy crushing AA is necessarily MLB ready. Maybe for a September call-up, but not to start for a playoff contender.

3. Gonzalez is on the roster all season. Then re-signed cheaply in November.

Law puts Alonso in his top 100, says he should be "at least" an above average regular.

Get to know @TrustTerminix Pest Player of Game @jeremyvasquez20...

- On a franchise-record 19-game on-base streak
- Only 3 players in pro ball (@MLB & @MiLB) own longer streaks
- Leads the @Mets system in RBIs, walks & OBP
- Leads the SAL in OBP, 2Bs & walks

I've only been hesitant to buy in to Vasquez bc he started out on fire last year also and then crashed when he got to Brooklyn. But Brooklyn beats a lot of players. Let's see how he holds up. Obviously great start tho. Would be great if he could play an OF corner.

Dibrell Kd 11 in 5.1

Starting to think these K numbers aren't that impressive. Too many minor league hitters with big contact issues.

And make it 20 games in a row as Vasquez singled to lead off the 9th. He went 1 for 4.

Good catch.

League average, K's per 9

Sally: 9.5 (Columbia 10.6 - 2nd best team, best 10.7)

FSL: 8.5 (mets 9.1, 2nd best team, best 10.0)

Eastern: 8.8 (Rumble Puppies 9.5, 2nd best again, best 10.7)

PCL: 8.8 (51s, top of the league with 9.7).

The Sally looks especially strike out prone, the other 4 leagues, about the same as MLB - currently 8.8 per 9 as well.

If 9.5 Ks per 9 is league average, grade on a curve I suppose. Dibell still looks interesting to me though.

Cheech has a 6 game hit-streak going. 10 for 26 in that time.
