Is it just me or does it feel like BVW is the manager of this team? And by that I mean, the non-player leader the players respect and follow? And that the players (likely) don't respect Callaway and he's kind of wedged in-between like "one of these things is not like the other. One of these things just doesn't belong."

I mean clearly he's calling the in-game shots or we wouldn't have seen Lagares bunt with 2 strikes in the 9th, Lugo used with 7-run lead, etc. But it feels like we all know he's overmatched, he knows he's overmatched, the players and BVW (likely) know he's overmatched and this is just a charade with the only question of how long it will go on and at how large a cost.

This may not be my most cogent post but you get the drift.

Except this was not Mickey's call, but Lagares' own doing.

But, yeah, I actually tend to agree with your sentiment. I think BVW would love a good reason to bring in his own guy.

I heard that. But my issue is with him being allowed to do it in the first place and, even if that's arguable, then not being prevented from doing it a second time. "Stop him before he kills again". Anyway, either way, my main issue is that Callaway just feels like a 3rd wheel somehow. Or, to an extent, like Art Howe in Moneyball.
