BRODIE!
COME GET US

Literally the whole minors is filled with that same guy.

And then a few work out and you have a dominant pen or some starters. They all won’t but you only need a few. Trading them for a guy you could have most likely acquired for cash only is stupid and cheap

Traded to Toronto for cash and we gave up a an actual good arm for him. BVW continues to be a joke.

He’s been dealt now 4 times in the last year. 3 times he returned at least an interesting arm. He probably pitched as well here as he did in any of the previous 3 stops.

And now we have Jacob Rhame in the majors on top of that. Mannnnnnn.

I don't know how much stock to put into small sample sizes or how well other teams scout these guys before trading them, but

Font's FIP for Tampa this year: 3.57
His FIP for Tampa last year: 3.98
His FIP for the Mets: 6.47

He gave up 8 homers pitching for the mets in 31 innings. That a lot. I guess the bottom line is, the mets didn't think he was worth holding onto. He's probably out of options, they probably weren't going to resign him so they sold him for what they could get.

Trash them for overspending to get him if you like, but I think if they weren't going to keep him, selling him for cash is perfectly OK.

I have no problem selling him for cash my issue was and is that Brodie didn’t acquire him for cash

Wilmer Font has a 2.45 ERA/2.67 FIP and 24/3 K/BB ratio for the Blue Jays.

As a reminder, he was cut for Chris Mazza, who then turned into Stephen Nogosek, who then turned back into Chris Mazza, who then turned into Drew Gagnon, who then turned into Paul Sewald. A useless series of transactions that have yielded no value, while Font would probably be our #2 RHP in the pen right now.

Imagine what our record could be if BVW just... stopped?

Yeah.....I was kind of surprised by the Mets letting him go given he was pitching much better, especially in longer outings.

But yeah.......Brodie is kind of proving to not know what he is doing at all. Oh well.

I've defended some moves, but this one was a head-scratcher considering we actually gave up something for him.

Yep, just never understood why they let him go. He certainly was passable at the very least, better than the dreck we see in Gagnon and Mazza and Bashlor..etc.
