I would have liked to see what would have happened if instead of making him play 4 positions poorly twice a week you let him play 1 position poorly every day.

He played 1B pretty regularly last season, and, uh, he still wasn't good at it in addition to not having the bat needed to play the position.

Just find the dissonance between hating Pete because he lacks secondary tools and liking Wilmer a bit strange.

How do you feel about JD Davis?

I don't think he's very good.

But he should be playing 3B every day.

Frazier's been one of our best hitters the past month and is infinitely better at fielding 3B than JD but I know you're on the "lose 100 games the next four years" bus so playing younger players who could be here post-rebuild to see what you have does make sense under that logic.

I don't think JD is very good, either. Not every guy with power is good. Alonso just has special power. I'm not saying he's the next Mark McGuire but I am saying there's a non-zero chance he becomes it.

I think nitey is also on the "I don't care about winning" train. Or something like that

I don't understand why winning matters, and I don't understand why fans take it so personally.

It's not a war, it's entertainment.

Just give me a reason to check the box score, and occasionally try to surprise me.

And on that note, it's time to stop picking on nitey for awhile.

He's got his thing and it's not like we're going to change his mind.

Also, I've been around long enough, maybe under a different name, that I was here when nitey got that avatar.

Instead of analyzing Nitey's baseball acumen...

Lets ask real questions...!

Such as, what don't you like about Alonso?
Why do you think Dom is the better talent?

Oh c'mon dawg. Yes that is how we should react, but you've been here long enough to know the only response is meaningless snark and 8)

Okay... so here's some fun:

Code:
Player    Triple Slash     OPS  HR  RBI
A        .254/.337/.596   .933  22   49
B        .277/.358/.542   .900  17   45
C        .273/.363/.531   .894  17   47
D        .305/.361/.556   .918  17   45

Those are the stats for four players through their teams first 67 games of the season. I tried to pick four players that have a lot of power in recent seasons where they were very productive.

One of those players is trading on-base skills for power more than the others, but that tradeoff gives him the highest OPS of the four (and obviously the most HR and RBI).

So, who are those players? Look below!

A = 2019 Pete Alonso
B = 2017 Giancarlo Stanton*
C = 2016 Kris Bryant*
D = 2015 Josh Donaldson*

*Won the MVP that season
